We needed a structural survey for a large Georgian house. We contacted CB&F as they told us they could carry it out and would have the report ready within 2 weeks of the survey and this suited both ours and the vendors time scales. The surveyor turned up and to his credit carried out a comprehensive survey. He told us (again) the report would be ready within 2 weeks. 2 weeks came and went, a month, 6 weeks... Still no report. Two and a half months later the thing turned up. No phone call, no explanation, email or text from the company during this time. Just a "sorry its late and now you need to pay us". The house we had surveyed had since been marketed and sold as we couldn't say when the survey would arrive. There was no offer of a discount or reduction for what I believe was at least partly their fault we lost the house, just a hearty "pay us or we start adding interest and then call the bailiffs if we still don't get it" type attitude. Again, the report itself was fine, but the time it took to get to us was totally unacceptable and the attitude of the company when we queried it left a lot to be desired. Very disappointed and out of pocket as we have now paid a grand for what turned out to be a worthless pdf file. Verdict: Don't believe their rubbish about reports ready in two weeks and don't expect to be compensated in any way without a fight. We commissioned Calvert Brain & Fraulo Architectural Ltd to prepare architectural Building Regs. drawings for our home extension project together with Calvert Brain & Fraulo Ltd to undertake the necessary structural engineering calculations and designs. The project was a huge undertaking for us due to the complexity of the alterations to the existing property and the open plan nature of the large extension. Our experience of the service provided by the two complementary companies has been exceptional and we cannot recommend them highly enough. They were very sensitive to our exacting requirements and the tight budget we were working with and worked creatively and cleverly to deliver them.
