About

This is a martial art with no rules. Bujinkan Taijutsu is a martial of nine warrior schools with lineage dating back 1000 years. These were combined by Grand Master (Soke) Massaki Hatsumi. We combine both tradition along with modern day scenarios, utilizing strikes, grappling, throwing, Pressure points (Kyushu) and all various weapons both traditional and modern.

These are an amazing group of people, and the tuition has been outstanding. Made me feel like a member of the family from the off. Highly recommended for anyone interested in learning a different style of martial arts. More...

Does your child need their confidence boosted but does not want to take up a sport? This is the class for them - they will learn self-defence which is invaluable both during their high school years and growing into adulthood. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Q&As

I've been training in this art for the best part of 30 years and found that it's helped me in more ways than I ever imagined. At first I studied Martial Arts to learn how to fight. The more I learned the less I wanted to fight and just progress myself mentally as well as physically. Over the years I've worked through the philosophy of the arts and found that this is more about healing than fighting. Yes we learn to protect yourself but the healing is so much more important and it heals the body mind and soul. The thing I love most is sharing this with as many people as are willing to let me.

I was actually asked to do so by some other students that I trained with in another organization. It just started as a couple of us getting a few extra lessons in and now it's become more than just a class. This is a family of like minded people who all have a great work ethic with no ego and are just there to improve their wellbeing and abilities.

I'm not one for self praise or trying make myself out to be better than the next guy. I'm not even one to say that my martial is the best because there is no such thing. One thing I do really push which makes me different I suppose is I believe in freedom of movement. I don't believe in the sentence 'your doing it wrong'. Especially when what you've done works. Everyone is different and everyone has a different movement range. Something's are going to be physically impossible for some people no matter how much training they do due to size, shape or ability. Yes you can train to be strong, but then there's always someone stronger. If you're 4ft 3" and the other guy is 6ft 8" then chances are you ain't doing what the 6ft 3" instructor just did. Embrace your individuality and make things work for you.
