We have got planning permission this week for our extension, without any amendments, and could not have done it without Green Sphere Design Ltd. Highly recommend for an architect who understands your brief and can add to the design and layout of the final property. More...

Q&As

The main issues are height and existing construction. If the height to the ridge above the attic floor is less than 2.7m, then it would be unlikely to be readily convertible. If the existing roof is constructed with modern trussed rafters, this presents structural issues because of the inherent minimal rafter width, depth and removal of the cross bracing. A cut / traditional roof construction can usually be converted.

After identifying the intended use, initially a location for a stair access has to be identified, this will entail some lose of floor space on the floor below the roof space. Secondly locations for dormers / roof-lights, (placed to minimize overlooking) and services would need to be identified.

I consider that good architectural design should be available for everyone for all types and scales of projects, from extending existing homes in an efficient and appropriate method, to considered design for new homes and a sensitive approach to town extensions. We will gladly tailor our fees to meet individual budgets and projects.

I have specialized in residential, traditional and classical design for over twenty years. I have held senior positions in several established architectural practices, including as an Associate Director for Adam Architecture. During my time at Adam Architecture I ran a team of up to 14 architects, technicians and consultants and coordinated several multi-million-pound development projects, including a £34million contract for a new classical residence in Surrey.

Between 2006 and 2018 I have run my own design consultancy, maintaining a 100% planning approval record dating back over 12 years.

As an architectural designer for 30 years, my foremost objective has always been to create designs for my clients that perfectly fit their needs and that are also careful considered with an appropriate design. I have a conscientious and sensitive approach to design, with a variety of new build and restoration private residential projects, as well as several mixed-use forward planning schemes currently underway.
