Services

Counselling is a talking therapy which can be used to explore difficult situations or feelings that someone might be facing or that have happened in the past, in order for them to see things with more clarity and understanding.

I have worked with adults for a range of issues including: stress, anxiety, depression, bereavement and loss, substance misuse, self-harm, work problems, family issues, relationship breakdown, eating disorders, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, difficult life events.

I am able to work with clients on a short term or
longer term basis in to order to facilitate positive change and enable them to develop a range of coping strategies so that they can take control of their lives.

I understand that taking the first step to accessing counselling can be very nerve wracking. I am happy to discuss any worries or questions you may have about counselling via email or over the phone.

If you decide you would like to start counselling then I offer the first session half price and it will give you the opportunity to:
· discuss the reasons you feel you need counselling
· discuss how counselling may benefit you
· discuss your expectations of counselling
· to see if we feel we can work well together

I always knew I wanted a career helping children and young people. When studying to become a counsellor I worked part time in a nursery, I then also got a job as a youth worker. Having this background means I have a wealth of experience with children and young people and I understand the difficulties and issues they may face.

During my counselling career I have supported a vast number of children and young people through some very difficult times, giving them a safe environment to explore what is going on in their lives. I have completed a number of courses centred around supporting young people therapeutically meaning I am able to work with a range of techniques to suit each individual child’s specific needs and preferences.

In another role I set up and manage a counselling service in a high school so I am very familiar with the demands and stresses young people encounter from school, friendships, family, day to day life or in crisis.

Working as a counsellor for over 8 years, I have experience of working in a number of settings and with a wide range of clients.
I have worked in a GP surgery, Family Welfare and a number of primary schools and secondary schools.
As well as setting up my private practice, I have also set up a counselling service in a high school which I still manage and supervise other counsellors as part of that service.

As your supervisor I will provide you with a safe space to discuss your client work and any other issues you may have. You will be listened to and understood and we will work collaboratively to ensure you are working to the best of your ability and enable you to move forward with your client work. I offer a holistic approach to supervision and feel it is important to get to know you and the way you work in order to not only ensure best practice but to also support you in your career development.
