How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
Minimum 2.1 meters headroom in the loft is required to construct the loft. Ideally there should are at least 2.5 meter measured from the existing loft floor to the ridge.
Some of this height will be reduced by loft structure (steel beams, floor joist, ceiling joist) and roof insulation. Flat roof require at least 150mm insulation between joist and 20mm under the joist. Most of the existing loft spaces have enough headroom to construct spacious loft conversion.
