Virtual Personal Assistant

Sadly, I had a bad experience with Holly. I was looking for a PA that could support me as I was going through a very busy period with a lot admin tasks. The first call with Holly was great, she was vibrant and funny, regrettably it was purely a smoking mirror.

We agreed to start with £500, package for 20 hours and had an expiration approximately of 3 months.

Once we started working together I realised that she wasn’t keeping all the promises on her work ethic’s.

The first tasks was to helped me to organised a claim for my insurance where I provided information, she just needed it to organise it and double check if I missed anything.

Allegedly took her 7 hours. The file had pictures, 25 lines the most and 5 columns. I was in dismay of how long it took her. However I decided to give her a chance as it was her first task but she kept disappearing. She once had Covid but never bother to tell me, once she was on holidays, etc. I forgot how many excuses she used. The bottom line was that she became a burden not a support as I had to constantly contact her.

She hardly replied to my emails/ tasks. I did express my frustration to Holly but her reply was to read her term and condition that she has 24 hours policy to reply. She kept ignoring my emails, when I raised it again she said my emails where going to her junk emails that is why she didn’t not see them.

Once she was coming to London to meet her clients and at the minute she asked to meet face to face and then cancelled. I feel she was not interested neither invested to build a working relationship.

I did highlight to Holly on our first call that I need some to support my work as I do work alone and I wanted someone proactive. Most of all, I didn’t want to chase my support, the time working with Holly I spent it chasing her. She kept extending the hours “as a good gesture of will” but it was not my fault she wasn’t available to complete my tasks and busy with other clients.

I was clear on my expectations to beginning in our first call. She just wanted to sign a new client and I felt she didn’t put any effort.

When I expressed my unsatisfaction, and ask her to give me the money back from the unused hours she refused it.

I lost time, money and left me with a bitter experience. I decided not to take Holly to the small claim court as I am too busy but she deserves a review, at least I can prevent other people from this bad experience.

Lucrezia, We have discussed this complaint at great length by email earlier in the year. But to highlight some important factors of your complaint, at the time of hiring me, I explained very clearly you had 3 months to use the hours you had purchased and that we operate a “use it or lose it” policy. I extended this as a goodwill gesture twice (meaning you had a total of 5 months to use these hours) which I feel is more than fair. You did not use the hours - despite me contacting you numerous times (of which I have evidence of) to advise that I required further information in order to carry out various tasks on your behalf. In terms of meeting you in London - as a virtual assistant I am not obligated to meet in person. These meeting offers were not in relation to any task requests nor was I obligated to do so within the terms of our contract. The instances whereby I contacted you to invite you for a coffee whilst I was in London, were, in fact, social invitations to strengthen our business relationship, whilst also being an opportunity to meet in person and to put a face to the name. In both instances you weren't available and/or weren't in a location I could easily access between other meetings (which were meetings I was being paid to attend and therefore had to take priority). Your emails were not reaching me, and I did provide evidence of this - however, as per my terms and conditions, I request that if you do not receive a response within 24 hours you follow this up with a phone call - for this exact reason in case communications get lost. You had both my personal and business number so there is no reason why you could not have reached out to me. I do not have this issue with any of my various other clients - most of whom I have been working with for a number of years. I gave you more than enough time (5 months to be precise) to utilise the hours purchased. That is two months more than was contained within my contract. You did not use these. Instead, you threatened me and my business' reputation if I did not refund the unused hours. With regards to the time it took to complete the initial task - this issue was never highlighted to me in any previous correspondence but have records of the time recorded as evidence. As I expressed in our email communication, I am incredibly saddened by this turn of events, as truthfully I had really enjoyed working with you. Had you called me to discuss your dissatisfaction in the first instance, I feel a lot of this could have been avoided. But instead, you decided to publicly slander my company before even highlighting any issue to me. This is very disappointing as I gave you more than ample opportunity to utilise the hours you had purchased. I wish you all the very best with your future endeavours.

Working with Holly and her team has really helped me to organise my workload, get on top of the admin tasks that I was drowning in and now I am in a position where we are no longer fighting fire reactively, but instead, we are working proactively to get ahead. Couldn't recommend more!
