My profile:
Anna aims to provide a strong therapeutic relationship where clients can process their feelings and decide how they want to move forward in their lives. Often clients come to therapy because they are stuck in a situation, blocked by their fears or chained to a pattern of behaviour that is no longer adaptive. Anna believes that psychotherapy can provide the space and the time for clients to assess their present and be supported in shaping their future through conscious choices. Working integratively Anna may use CBT to help clients find fast relief from anxiety and automatic negative thoughts, Phenomenological-Existential Therapy to explore personal values and making adaptive choices, and psychodynamic therapy to provide a link to past experiences that might still be affecting the client in the present. She believes that one approach does not fit all and tailors therapy according to the client's goals and preferences.
With a background in UK mental health services, Anna has a wealth of knowledge on the issues that can impact our wellbeing long-term. During her years working with clients affected by severe mental conditions Anna observed how clients who had a supportive network of people around them, were more resilient and were able to bounce back faster from a range of difficulties. It has now been demonstrated that meaningful relationships in our lives have an enormous positive impact on our health. Anna specializes in helping clients with all stages of forming and managing healthy relationships, being those we have with romantic partners, spouses, friends, ex-partners, work colleagues and family members; without forgetting the very crucial relationship with ourselves.
She has a special interest in individuals who struggle to find and staying in a committed romantic relationship. Anna's areas of expertise include abuse, anxiety, panic attacks, dating difficulties, family issues, phobias, procrastination, stress, life transitions, career choice, depression, domestic violence, workplace issues, trauma, low self-esteem, isolation, LGBTQ+ issues, sexual identity, CPTSD, suicidal ideation, life direction, search for meaning, authentic-self discovery, inner child work and automatic negative thoughts.
Anna is a qualified psychotherapist and a registered member of the BACP. She is also in the final stage of completing a doctorate in counselling psychology and psychotherapy and as such is a member of both the BPS and the UKCP. Anna holds a master’s degree in clinical psychology and has attended courses in human sexuality, family systems, CBT and RAID (managing challenging behaviour). As an integrative psychotherapist, she draws from three therapeutic modalities in order to offer a first class, tailored approach to her clients. She works online in private practice offering therapy both in English and in Italian.
