We'd love to share our passion for food with you! Following a collective 25 years working at the pinnacle of the fine dining scene in Sussex – and 18 months in top kitchens in Asia and Australia exploring fusion dishes and techniques – we launched our own business, Angelica Food, in autumn 2021 to provide private dining and events catering to clients in South East England and London.

Maria and Jimmy at Angelica Food prepared a very flexible menu in advance that was perfect to accommodate a variety of tastes in our family. They communicated clearly and promptly and were punctual and efficient on the day. They are friendly, very professional and incredibly skilful chefs. They even managed when I introduced them to my kitchen which is essentially in a building site. And they left my kitchen spotless. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but it was wonderful restaurant service in the comfort of our home. We started with delicious canapés which was a delightful surprise and then sat at the table for our incredible 3 course meal. We were a small party of 11 for a family birthday celebration and it was a wonderful treat and worth every penny! We are already wondering what excuse we have to hire Angelica Food again. More...

Angelica food were fantastic. The food was scrumptious, a wonderful blend of flavours with each of the small bowls of food. We had plenty of time between each bowl so lots of time for chat, we were not rushed at all. The service was also brilliant. It was attentive but not intrusive. Maria and Jimmy cooked for my 60th birthday dinner at a house we rented for the weekend in Kent. The food was completely delicious and they were unobtrusive but friendly. We had canapes and 4 courses with a standout halibut and lobster veloute dish. They bring everything with them and take all the plates/bowls/cutlery away. It was a real treat. Highly recommended. From the moment I sent out the request for a private chef, I immediately knew Angelica Foods were the ones for us. Jimmy and Maria were friendly, responsive, professional and above all accommodating to a variety of our needs. The whole way through the process they kept us informed and made me feel at ease that everything was in hand. Then came the night they were booked to cook for us!! Wow is all I have to say. They arrived exactly when they said they would and just told me to go and sit with the family and leave everything to them. From the canapés to the 3 course meal, everything placed in front of us exceeded all expectations. I can honestly say it was one of the most memorable nights and Angelica Foods had a massive part to play in this. If we ever have the opportunity to do an event like this again I will absolutely be getting back in touch. The food and professionalism was second to none. I had a significant birthday coming up and needed a caterer who could do great quality food and provide a restaurant service in your home for myself and 10 people . Angelica Food fulfilled all of these. From the start once I gave them the idea of what I was looking for they sent me a menu of options. It was so difficult to choose as every options read so delicious! Jimmy was so understanding and extremely helpful and covered every situation from my vegetarian guests (who changed their minds several times!) to one of my guests who did not like cheese. Before the event we kept in touch on a regular basis and Jimmy had no problem with all questions I asked him. On the day they arrived promptly and all I did was to show them where the kitchen was . The whole meal was delicious with ingredients locally sourced and I wanted to finish the meal with cheese and even the crackers, chutney and quince were all homemade. Jimmy prepared the table with menus and All of my candles! Every course he explained what we going to eat and served looking incredible and tasting fantastic. I know all my guests enjoyed the food as there were a lot of empty plates! And finally at the end of a momentous evening they left myself and my guests happy and a spotless kitchen. So if you want a trouble free dinner party with no piles of washing up after the guests have left I would have no problem with Angelica Food. More...

What’s your signature dish?
Our favourite dish at the moment is Longhorn beef, smoked brisket dumpling, carrot and ginger, pak choi. We get to use a local farm to us that has the most amazing Longhorn beef. We then also put an asian fusion twist on the dish which keeps the dish exciting and different.
How do you go about creating the perfect menu for your clients?
All of our menus are bespoke to what the client would like. We put together dishes by using ingredients that are in season and local to us from organic vegetable producers, and local farms.
What do you love most about your job?
Food is our passion. Developing and creating food, that has the 'wow factor' from how the food taste but also to how the dish looks. Everyday is different and new ideas evolve as the seasons change, and new producers appear! We also really love the fact that we bring our passion for food to you, so you can enjoy it in the comfort of your own home.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Despite the personal and professional challenges of starting a new small business during the uncertainty of the pandemic, now just kind of seemed like the right time for us to follow our own aspirations and life goals. A lot of things fell into place at the same time.
