Interior Lighting Designer

I’m sorry I wasn’t able to progress for personal reasons but what dealings I had with the company were very favourable.

Landscape Design

First of all I had never heard of bark before.
I spent a month ringing landscaping teams from Google search, all of which were booked up for at least a year, the ones I got quotes from were pricing me up at the same price I could build an adjacent bungalow or extension. £20,000 was my cheapest quote.
My budget was around £5000. I didnt want to spend anymore than that on my garden.
So I then Decided, what if I can get a garden designer, who can take on board all my ideas and tastes, plan the landscaping and design it according to my budget?
Well, I put my details into bark and I looked at the results, I browsed the designers and I looked at the top recommendation , which was angel Martin home and garden design, and his designs were out of this world. Mind-blowing. Did I contact him? No. Why? Because I didn't think I had a chance of being able to afford someone that talented! I didn't even continue with my bark results, I gave it up as a bad job.
Then a few days later, Martin Nealon from Angel Martin messaged me on my email. Saying that he would love the opportunity to work on my garden.
So I replied and said, your designs are amazing but there's no chance I can afford you sorry.
Cutting a long story short, the conversations I proceeded to have with Martin about my garden and his design fees were such a breath of fresh air.
I couldn't believe I could afford him.
Now I may have spent around 45 percent of my budget on design fees.
But let me tell you what I have for my money.
Martin met me alone first of all in my garden and instantly knew what he was going to come up with. You could hear the cogs turning as he wetted my appetite with his ideas.
He and his assistant Helen then came a second time after agreeing to proceed, and spent around 2 hours in my garden measuring and jotting down notes, and sketching.
The next day, to my shock, he said your design is ready.
I went to his home to view the design, and he had a 3D visual model of my home and garden to scale on his computer. I was blown away.
And his design was mesmorising.
He had designed the garden, sorting out all the levels, where the drainage goes, where the lighting goes, where the cables go, where the walls go, everything to the detail, ordinance surveys done of my property, overhead photos, sewer lines, gas lines, the lot.
He took into account planning permission , line of sight for traffic, possible disputes, not only did he design the garden, he went above and beyond, he rendered my house, did my driveway, and planned lines for possible future extensions haha.
There's more, so he walked me through my garden with a 3d visual video looking at everything in detail. Explaining everything.
I then was sent a 48 page PDF document full of visuals, charcoal drawn and 3d digital visuals, along with links and photos of the materials, the lighting, furniture, planting schemes, everything.
In the 48 page digital document which you can print off too, I had the ordinance surveys, the scale drawings, things I can give to landscapers, builders, electricians in the future and say ...get it done. Lol.
Do you think I was happy?
Well, there's even more.
Even tho the first design was outstanding, I decided due to my taste and preference that some of the materials and aspects were too modern, and there were other things I'd like to include.
Was this a problem ?
Not at all, within a day or two new visuals were sent over to include what I'd requested in an email.
Wow.
I was blown away ...again.

So now I have the design all sorted, I'm now going to do a lot of it myself. I have everything in detail enabling me to crack on.
And whilst I do my garden, however long it takes, Martin has made it clear he's on board for the journey. If I get stuck, need something explaining, need him to come look at something, hes there.

So in conclusions, getting in a garden designer, even tho it may be a large chunk of your budget blown, it's a large chunk blown in the most important area. The planning! If it's planned meticulously to the detail, and to your budget, then there not going to be any hidden costs or surprises in the future. Any contractors you get In, you don't need to explain anything, there's no scratching of heads in the garden wasting your time and money, they have a detailed plan to work from.
And there's plenty you can do from the plan to save costs also.

I strongly recommend hiring Angel Martin Home and Garden design.

But don't just take my word for it, check out their website. Look at his work. It speaks for itself. My garden is the one with apple tree! Enjoy. You won't regret it.

Q&As

The interior design process always starts with the client brief.
We need to understand what the client wants to achieve and gain an understanding of the type of style the client likes.

We think of it as "tuning in a radio"......once we are tuned into the clients wavelength we can then produce designs that are specific to their requirements.

We deal with all design styles in both commercial and residential.

Ultra Modern
Contemporary
Traditional

We have also worked on listed properties so can adapt to match a specific period style if required.

I love the creativity within interior design and the fact every client and every project is different.

It's exciting to get a brief and challenging to rise to the task.

I love working with a client to create a beautiful interior scheme then seeing the design come to fruition.

I have always been a creative person and interior design offers me the chance to not only express myself creatively but to see the results as a finished room.

I have over 25 years experience.

I'm a member of the British Institute of Interior Design.
You can't buy entry to this organisation, you have to prove you have experience and a high level of ability to be accepted.

I am a creative designer with a passion for what I do and my clients see that with my schemes.

I have been working with clients remotely for years.
I use 'Zoom' and can have face to face meeting using this format and share my screen to present my drawings and ideas. Bark clients need to be able to share/send photos and give as much detail as possible.

Working remotely is our preferred working method as it keeps everyone safe.
If we are required to attend site we will observe social distancing and wear a mask to ensure everyones safety.

Services

Space planning and remodelling are a vital part of the Home Design process. If you want to get the very best use of your property you NEED us to design for you.

We are Cullen Lighting Award Winning Designers.

Why Lighting Design? - have you ever walked into a new build and the light is just a grid on the ceiling - there is no mood lighting, no scene setting - it is just dire.

We design lighting schemes to be practical and to offer mood lighting to create drama within the space.

It is also an important to have this information ready to give the Electrician BEFORE you hire him to ensure he can have specific instructions as to exactly what we want to achieve. Do NOT just let the Electrician do what he thinks is right...

Based on our discussions with the client we would produce mood boards to capture the overall look and feel of the room we are creating.

As designers we feel it's vitality important to illustrate a scheme professionally to articulate our ideas.

As part of the presentation we can offer full colour visuals/artists impressions of the scheme we are proposing.

In addition to the visuals we can produce a 3D video walk through of the scheme if required.

Whilst we specify furniture from a number of suppliers we are able to design specific pieces of furniture to be made by a cabinet maker if required.

When we produce a design (remember designs are never free) this allows you to shop at many different retailers. For example; if you are buying a kitchen there are plenty of companies that state it is 'free design' - seriously! the price is built into the kitchen and they do not allow you to go to other companies with their 3D design - you are fixed to that retailer.

As designers we specialise in producing drawings that can be sent out by yourselves to a number of suppliers to obtain a number of quotes to ensure you get the most competitive price.

We can also provide a written specification with the drawings if required so you would be comparing 'Like for Like'.

We qualified as garden designers at Chelsea Harbour and can offer a full design service from plan, visuals and video walk throughs.

We are DESIGNERS - not gardeners so if you want implementation put that on another Bark advert.
