There are various types of Dementia, from Alzheimer’s to Parkinson’s, all with different symptoms, striking different people and all requiring varied care services.

All types of dementia can develop behavioural patterns for customers that can be difficult for family members and friends to cope with – both physically and emotionally. Often, seeking the support of trained dementia carers is a must to help relieve the pressure of this. We provide customer specific dementia care options that can help the customer and their relatives better manage day-to-day life and plan for the road ahead.

We all grow old, it’s a fact of life – but this doesn’t mean we need to stop enjoying doing the things we love.

However, with children, grandchildren and relatives leading busy working lives they can struggle to find time to provide the care that matches their parents’ and grandparents’ needs. The next obvious choice may be care homes, but at such a great cost, do you or your loved ones really want to leave their family home for an unfamiliar setting surrounding by unfamiliar people?

Alcedo Care’s elderly home care service can help overcome all of these problems. An affordable alternative to a care home and a service that can relieve the stress and worry for relatives: we can care and support elderly customers with a unique care plan that will help them continue to live the lifestyle they wish.

With assistance from one of our Registered Care Managers, we will work with you as our customer and, where required or specified, your family to put in place the support that is required, along with agreed details of what support is needed and when.

Care and support packages can vary in length and content from a drop-in call or safety check, through to an hour or longer. Services range from routine safety checks and prompts, to delivery of complex care and, on many occasions, simply involve providing companionship. Whatever the needs, we will always ensure the same carer team visits every time so a relationship can be established and the best care can be provided.

Alcedo Care supported living service helps individuals with a variety of learning disabilities and complex needs live an independent life in their own home.

Our outstanding team of supported living and healthcare professionals have an excellent track record of providing flexible, high quality, person centred care, support and enablement for people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries and a spectrum of other needs.

As a supported living services customer, as much or as little support can be provided by our trained staff. We can be on hand to help the customer catch their bus each morning or even support them in organising supported holidays and days out.

No matter how we can help, we always strive to encourage independence amongst our supported living services customers, allowing them to enjoy their own choice of activities while living their lives to the full and on their own terms.

For many of our customers, simply moving into their own home causes dramatic improvements in their health and wellbeing, such as progression in mobility, language and behaviour. A one-on-one connection with regular members of the Alcedo Care supported living team helps to build confidence and enhances life for both the customer and their families.

Research tells us that providing long-term care to an elderly or sick relative can be stressful to the carer. Hence the need for respite care, which gives a carer a much needed and deserved break, allowing them the time and space to re-charge their batteries.

Taking respite is important as it allows the carer time to improve their own well being. If you wish to take a well-deserved break, an Alcedo Carer can come in to provide respite care for those much needed times.

Alcedo Care can help support you with this through our tailored made respite care packages. We can work closely with you and your dependant to give you the peace of mind you may need to have a few days respite; be that on holiday or at home.

Not only does this allow you take a break, the respite it provides can help you better provide the care and support your loved one needs.

All of our respite care packages are fully personalised to you and your loved one’s needs.

The human brain is the command centre for the human nervous system. It receives signals from the body’s sensory organs and outputs information to the muscles. The human brain has the same basic structure as other mammal brains but is larger in relation to body size than any other brains.

Every brain injury is different and the effects of such injuries are wide-ranging and unique to each sufferer – encompassing some, or all, of the following:

Behavioural and personality-affecting difficulties; including anxiety, depression, self-control/impulsivity issues and sudden (often inexplicable) mood swings
Cognitive difficulties affecting memory, attention/concentration, rationalisation, learning
Physical impairments like loss of co-ordination, muscle control, paralysis, epilepsy, sensory impairment, fatigue.
The transition from inpatient care, post brain injury, to life at home and within the community is especially stressful for everyone involved. Providing a brain injury care plan that accommodates these emotions and changes is unique for everyone, as no situation or requirements are the same. Therefore, one of our Alcedo Care specialist carers will come out and assess you or your loved one and tailor a care plan to suit their needs. Once a plan has been set, it is regularly reviewed and updated based on the progress and changing situation

The brain injury care plan will be designed to support our customers by providing person-centred care to meet their diverse and challenging requirements, aspirations and goals. By creating a stable, supporting environment, we help lay the foundations for the journey towards independent living and empowering those affected, as well as their relatives.

The lives of those close to the sufferer can also be significantly affected by their injury. Family and friends have to make major adjustments and sacrifices whilst simultaneously trying to deal with the often-drastic changes in those they care for.
