How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
It should be linked to the main house or integrated into the original design . There should also be enough space to park 2 cars within the driveway to mitigate against the lost car space from the garage
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
Most garage conversions can be carried out under permitted development which means there is no need for a planning application . You would require building regulation drawings which would need to be submitted to the local authority for approval . The process normally takes around 4 weeks .
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
You will need sufficient head height from the loft floor to the underside of the ridge . Depending on the span of the roof timbers most roofs with a pitch of more than 30 degrees will be suitable . The location for the new stair should result in the head of the stair being at the point where at least 2 metres headroom can be achieved
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
Loft conversions with dormers only on the rear of the roof , as long as it does not face a highway can be carried out under permitted development rights ( various exclusions apply such as conservation areas - please contact us if you are unsure ) . Building regulation approval would be required in all instances .
