Friendly staff offering honest advice and real no frills bike maintenance for a fair price. Took my single speed bike here in need of some TLC. It needed a little more work than I had thought but it's a work horse and I could see that various parts were worn. They talked through what was salvagable, what needed replacing (as well as what kind of parts they could be replaced with), and how much it would all cost. Shopped around but About the Bike were competitive for the costs of the parts and labour. I've been taking my bike here for a few years since I lived locally. I now live in Haringey but still come here for servicing because they are great. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff, they give clear advice on what needs done and do it quickly at a very reasonable price. They really know their stuff, give useful advice on maintenance (without being too patronising) and don't change anything they doesn't need changing. Let time I took it in they changed the chain, cassette and chain ring, but clearly explained that changing gears won't be perfect because of wear in the lever on the handlebar which is really useful extra info.A straightforward and good priced operation More...

Excellent service and prices, even for tricky, very vintage, bicycles. I used to take my bikes back to the man who sells them in Finsbury Park, but was surprised to find out that they actually repair them far more carefully here. Bikes come back from Marco, the mechanic, in a far better state than I even bought them in. One of my bikes is no longer a health hazard after he sorted out the brakes. I had taken the same bike back to the seller and another bike repair shop in the past 2 years but neither made much of a change to the issue, whereas the bike now rides very safely. These guys are heroes! My bike was in a pitiful state and they put in a phenomenal effort to take it apart and rebuild it, and they even capped the bill at a very reasonable price when they knew it was going to be a big job. Excellent, down to earth service from guys who really know what they're doing! I needed a new rear mudguard, and popped in on the off chance since I was passing. This is a very different experience to using one of the big chain bike shops who don't seem to give a damn about their customers....Dan gave up loads of his time to help me find the one that was perfect for my bike, and didn't steer me to the most expensive gear.
