Q&As

Growing up, my day to day reality revolved around my parents' poor health. Both my father and mother were seriously ill with long-term health conditions. As such, regular hospital admissions and operations became the norm. After my father passed away from a rare kidney disease, my mother developed trigeminal neuralgia, a rare and debilitating condition characterised by sudden and often severe facial pain. The condition, comes and goes, but can last for days, weeks or months at a time.

As an only child, I became my mother’s primary carer. However, it wasn’t long before her condition began to worsen. During particularly bad bouts of neuralgia, my mother would be unable to talk or eat and was unwilling to leave the house. I knew then that I would have to secure additional help and so I started exploring the idea of bringing someone in to assist her. As I started contacting local organisations, I was immediately struck by how difficult it was to even get hold of anyone and then to get them to understand my mother’s unique condition and bespoke care needs.

It was this experience that prompted me to set up my own organisation – one that would not only support and care for people with mainstream diseases, but also those with more unfamiliar conditions, who would require more intermittent care.

With a background in human sciences and epidemiology from Oxford University and a career in the health care industry, I felt my academic knowledge and professional experience aligned perfectly.

And so Tiggo Care was born - rooted in my own lived experience and grounded in both an understanding of the complexities of rare diseases and an awareness of the need for a more flexible and bespoke approach to care.

We want to provide families across London and surrounding areas with a unique care option – one that puts them and their loved one at heart of the decision making process, that gives them greater personal choice and control over their care and that delivers a truly bespoke service to the highest standards.

We understand that everyone is different and has different needs. Therefore all of our packages are unique and created specifically for you. We'll match you with the perfect carer and will provide ongoing personal support.

We can organise free consultations remotely if you'd prefer us not to visit your home.

Services

Whether you just need someone to check in on your loved one first thing in the morning and help with personal care or breakfast, or continuous live-in care to make sure they’re safe during the night, you can be assured that our fully trained Care Assistants will be on hand to help whenever you need them.

Specialist dementia care works to reduce the effects and symptoms of dementia, whilst offering reassurance to the individual and their families. A change of routine and environment can be very daunting for someone who’s living with dementia so home care can be more effective at reducing stress than moving to a residential home.

Our End of Life care team is specifically trained to provide support where and when it’s needed, ensuring that an individual receiving end of life care is made as comfortable as possible. We work closely with community palliative care teams, specialists from other multidisciplinary teams, local hospices, family, and friends to ensure that the service we deliver is specifically tailored to support the wellbeing of that person.

We ensure that the care delivered is not intrusive and we’re always aware of the need for calm, the dignity of the individual, and their right to have their wishes acted upon. Carrying out those wishes is paramount to us. Where required and if their condition permits, we are more than happy to support activities that relieve their situation and make the days more enjoyable.

Tiggo Care employs highly trained and compassionate Live-in Care Assistants who provide one-to-one support, enabling you to live at home in familiar, comfortable surroundings. Your dedicated Live-in Care Assistant will support your lifestyle, respecting your personal needs and choices.

We will work closely with you and your Care Assistant to ensure they are providing the right level of support at the right time in the right way. We know that it can be a daunting prospect to have someone living in your home but with a dedicated, experienced team of genuinely caring people to guide you every step of the way, we are confident that we can make the experience as easy as possible. All of our Care Assistants are trained to ensure that they strike the right balance for you by giving you the space you want whilst being there whenever need them.

We can provide respite care on an intermittent or regular basis and ensure that the handover of daily routines to your Care Assistant is smooth and stress-free.

This could be a Companionship Care package, a personalised Day Care package, an Overnight package or a Live-in Care package whilst you or your regular Care Assistant take a break. The duration of respite care is up to you and you don't need to provide us with an end date to get started.

Tiggo Care offers a variety of Home Care packages, including Companionship Care, Personalised Day Care, and Overnight Care. Overnight Care is split into Waking Night Care and Sleeping Night Care. We can also offer 24 hour care if required. The exact package your loved one will receive is based on their individual needs and personal preferences.

When our Care Assistant is attending a visit they can help your loved one with routine tasks that they might be finding difficult, such as shopping or housekeeping, whilst offering companionship. If required they can also help with personal care and medication.

Our care team can provide support if your loved one needs care following discharge from the hospital after an operation or illness. We can even help with things such as a lift home and stocking the fridge and preparing a meal to settle you back into your home.

Should an emergency arise such as an unexpected hospital discharge, sickness, or bereavement, we can provide an immediate risk assessment visit from one of our managers and often have a Care Assistant instated within 24 hours.
