Waltons is a manufacturing jewellers established in 1986 & are currently celebrating our 30th anniversary. We carry out most of the work in our workshop on the premises & offer just about every service you could possibly think of in the jewellery trade.

Serviced cleaned and managed to get repaired a watch I was given by my parents on my 21st in 1977. So now I can wear it again after being in a drawer for the last 7 years. Their knowledge & expertise is second to none. I have just had a ring made by them. I was given a selection of gemstones to choose from with an explanation of the different qualities of stones, metals & settings.
At no point did I feel rushed or pressured. The finished ring is absolutely stunning.

A few years ago I enquired if a gold bracelet strap could be made to suit a very old watch I had picked up at auction and which bore an old leather strap. Designs were suggested and with their expertise and advice a bracelet strap was chosen to be made. It was charming and received many compliments. To celebrate the birth of our fourth daughter some 30 odd years ago my husband designed some silver earrings for me for Chris Walton to make.
At the same time and unknown to my husband, I designed a silver key fob for Chris to make too. Shortly after the birth we both delved into our bags and brought out identically wrapped boxes. They had obviously had an amusing time in the shop thinking about our reactions!
However the story doesn’t end there. My husband lost the fob several years ago, and then a month ago the earrings were stolen. I checked that Waltons still existed (we’d moved from Caversham several years ago) and sent an email asking whether they kept any drawings or records of jewellery they had made. Chris came back immediately, remembered both the earrings and the key fob and has made perfect copies of both in time for Xmas. How’s that for service!!!

I recently broke the bale on my 31 year old locket and was looking for it to be mended. Having been let down by a local jewellers I went into lots of Jewellers in Reading and every time I was told the locket would have to be sent away and it could take a couple of weeks! The locket is very precious to me, so I didn't want this to happen. Finally ended up in Samuels where a lovely lady advised me of Waltons in Caversham. Mr Walton looked at my locket last Saturday and said the shop was closed on the Sunday and Monday, but it would be ready in a week. I was happy with this as he reassured me repairs were carried out onsite. On Wednesday morning received call saying locket all ready for collection. couldn't believe it and the locket and chain had been cleaned as well! This is by far the best service I have had in a long while and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this wonderful place. More...

I have used Waltons for many years for repairs and battery changes to my Breitling and my wife's Raymond Weil watches. The last time I took my watch for a small repair the shop was closed, but the proprietor who just happened to be passing by opened up specially for me. What inspired you to start your own business?
Chris Walton served a five year apprenticeship as a goldsmith at a manufacturing jewellers in Henley. After having been in the jewellery trade for 10 years decided to start his own business. By then he had already built up a huge following of loyal customers. The launch of Waltons was not easy as the amount of money required was quite substantial to pay for the lease, a shop front, shop fittings, security, an alarm system, safe, not to mention the stock.
Having studied jewellers for quite a while it was obvious that due to the high price of gold at that time not many were selling quality pieces & hardly any were ‘working’ jewellers.
It is very important to understand jewellery. It is usually given for a reason to celebrate a birthday, anniversary etc. The wearer will always be reminded of that whenever they look at the item regardless of its value. 90% of jewellery is designed for women. He also gives talks on all aspects of the jewellery trade.
