After jumping around to different gyms in Santa Monica, I finally found one that works for me. Friendly, not too busy, super clean and updated, and fantastic classes. I focus on yoga and spin (shout out to Judy and her amazing 12pm class M/W) and am never disappointed. The instructors provide a space for you to get what you want out of it -- whether you're training for a race or just trying to get your cardio in. Awesome staff, and a great value compared to what else is out there. More...

This is hands down the best gym I've ever been a member of! This place has everything I need, the best equipment on the market, the staff is so kind, helpful and knowledgeable, and the amenities are amazing. I work in the healthcare and fitness world and I can truly say the trainers are top notch! They offer the best variety of classes and I always get an awesome workout in, whether it's a HIIT class mid day or the ELDOA class that helps to decompress my spine. The spin classes are always super high energy and they also offer swim classes in their pool. Above all else, the sense of community and spirit is what sets this place apart from any other gym in LA - and trust me, I've been to them all. This place is absolutely the best! Also, they offer healthy and delicious food and snack options which is just the icing on the cake. I 100% recommend this gym! More...

After searching for a "valued" workout space, I had a realization that valued gyms are not necessarily cheaper if you consider all the corner-cutting they have to do. 1. the cleanliness was sacrificed2. no towels offering on-premise3. parking would be an additional fee So after I add all these up, the valued gyms I visited actually are not any CHEAPER. Then I found Trifit. Trifit is deceiving. In addition to its main recently remodeled studio rooms and workout area. In the past I have been a member of other gyms that were cheaper, but did not have much to offer besides general workout equipment and a few classes at inconvenient times with no variety. At Trifit that is not the case and I think that the cost for the membership is on par with what they have to offer. They have an expansive list of classes for members to take that span from squash to power yoga and educated instructors. I like that they offer a brief biography of the instructors for every class to give me peace of mind. I've tried a number of gyms (including Equinox, 24 hour Fitness, Loews Hotel and Spa), and I came across this by accident when Loews closed their membership to the general public. Overall it's very good. Parking is easy, the changing rooms are clean and well appointed. The gym itself has natural light and so doesn't have that brightly lit glare that many gyms have. A good selection of equipment and plenty of classes (though I haven't been to any as yet). Sauna and a pool are located about 100 years away from the main gym. Friendly staff, nice touches like fruit-infused water and tea. Never too crowded, even at peak times. Recommended. I wish it were open just a bit later at weekends, particularly on a Sunday, otherwise I'd give 5 stars. More...

Alonzo Martial Arts = Valuable, fun classes and camps led by a highly skilled, wonderful human in the most mindful, effective way! Master Alonzo empowered my son right out of an awful bullying situation a few years ago, and continues to teach both my kids Tae Kwon Do and so much more with such patience, love, and expertise. Every single class, I am amazed by some new dimension of what he is teaching my children, and how. In addition to martial arts skills (both physical and mental), they are learning to be better, healthier, happier, stronger human beings all around. This is thanks to Master Alonzo's solid influence, calculated dynamic instruction, and unbelievably keen understanding of people and how to best guide them. His students learn coordination, awareness, empathy, respect, resilience, grit, fortitude, focus, self-control, confidence, patience, conflict-resolution communication, boundary setting, and a whole slew of martial arts skills should they ever need to use physical means to protect someone else or themselves. You can't help but love Master Alonzo and what he does! More...

I have been going to TriFit for approximately 5 years.  I originally joined the gym as it is the only place on the west side of LA that has squash courts with round robin social matches that are great if you don't know anyone who plays in the area.   While a member, a friend got me into cycling and the rest is history; TriFit has the coaches and resources available that enabled me to go from someone with no competitive athletic background to to someone doing a Olympic Triathlon in a year, a Half Ironman the next year and a full Ironman the next.  Achieving this was made easy with the support of TriFit; especially for someone like me who lacks the drive and knowledge to train to achieve this kind of feat.  TriFit has an amazing team of trainer lead classes and outdoor sessions that fit into anyone's schedule.  I personally chose the morning classes so that I could work out and not have all those excuses you can muster up at the end of the day to skip a workout.I now focus more on cycling and strength training and TriFit has me covered with TRX and HIIT classes as well as Yoga and a stretching class called ELDOA, which I love as I feel helps not not only with injuries but to prevent them.  They also have a Physical Therapy group on-site which takes all insurance, a huge plus. To top it all off, the gym was just renovated and they opened a brand new beautiful facility with "equinox" style locker rooms.  Do yourself a favor, just come have a look at this place, I can promise you won't regret it!!! My 5-year-old attends this studio.  He has attended since July, and he has learned so much and gained a lot of confidence in just a short time. First of all, the studio is SPOTLESS.  It is brand new and sparkling clean, with good natural light and plentiful equipment. Second, the class options are great, with a WeeKick class offered every T-F and Saturday.  This means that there are never too many kids in a class.  Master Alonzo himself is usually teaching them, which is great! The classes themselves are a full hour long, which our kid complains about sometimes because they do real workouts (5-year-olds doing burpees!) and he is tired at the end.  But I consider this a great thing.  Finally, Master Alonzo... he's wonderful.  He manages to be super friendly, fun, funny and a great teacher, but still commands attention and respect.  He has a great non-physical approach to boundary-setting and sticking up for oneself and others that he reinforces during each class, in addition to teaching the martial arts fundamentals.  I used to be involved in martial arts, and so was very particular when choosing an instructor and studio for our little guy.  Master Alonzo hits every mark in our book, and we are so pleased! I guess that it was one of best choices that I make in 2018. I was used to work out in your typical commercial gym where if you go during peak time you end wasting time on waiting for a free bench of machine. I tried different times and it is never crowded, so your workout goes smoothly. I am not a big of group exercises, but I love taking the boxing class with the great Lex Giron, it is one of most fun and calories burning activity that you can find. The new space just opened a few days ago and I can say only positive things, you can see that it is kind of a labor of love of Gina and Bernard Baski ( the owner).I like also the relaxed approach of the staff, I signed up my membership with Juan, and I appreciated that he never tried to force on me the sell or other services like personal training. I think that you have until the end of July 2018 to take advantage of the old membership fee, in my opinion is you are looking for a gym it is occasion not to be missed! More...

So much more than martial arts alone! We have been learning from Master Alonzo (camps and classes) since the summer of 2016 and have been continually impressed by (and grateful for) his outstanding instruction. His whole-child curriculum and implementation of it are both first-rate. Every exercise and activity is intelligently calculated for the desired result, which is children who are mindful, empathetic, strong, confident, respectful of themselves and others, prepared, skilled, and able to defend themselves and others verbally and physically against everything from verbal disrespect to unwanted touches, to violent assault. A thorough understanding of child development guides his age-appropriate instruction, and he leads the classes and camps in a fluid, engaging way that is both effective and entertaining. He's great at adjusting his tone on-the-fly as he "reads the room" and the result is optimal "classroom management." He has the kids squealing with laughter one moment and silently revering him the next, and matches his humor/seriousness balance and flow to the maturity and behavior of the students. I've been a member at Trifit for nearly a year now and it would just be impossible for me to be happier with it. I hadn't belonged to a gym in 20 years, I spent that time running and bike riding outside. Decided to add swimming, and strength to the mix so I needed a gym, what I've gotten from Trifit is much more than I imagined. I can still exercise outside, with guided Trifit track workouts (SMC), and ocean swims (Station 26, Santa Monica). All of their swim workouts are fantastic, frequent, and with lots of options both in terms of speed vs endurance, and scheduling (day and time). All of these structured workouts are included in your membership. Every single person I've come across in these workouts is lovely, and supportive, it's the ideal environment to accomplish whatever you're trying to do. Many people are training for Triathlons, that's extremely well supported, I have no intention of doing that, and my goals are equally well supported. I also do yoga here once a week, so many options, such great teachers. Obviously, you have to research a gym to make sure it fits your goals, for me, this is the ideal place. Aside from everything else, here's probably the best thing about Trifit. This gym has shown me how cool it is to find a professional support structure, and a community of people who can help me get better at all of the things I was doing before. Yelp 42/100Trifit is easily one of the best gyms in the area. It's right across the street from The Bay Club and has underground parking for members. When you initiate your membership, they give an HID or proximity access card, they also validate parking for two hours I believe. I am not sure if the access card has the same limits. It does take a few days for the card to activate, so be aware. Some of the surrounding businesses have a partnership with the gym for a discounted rate, I was referred by a close friend. It is decently priced, on the pricing scale of Bay Club, but not as expensive as Equinox.Trifit is split into different levels where the first floor has standard equipment and studios. By standard I mean squat rack, various machines, rowing, cables, jump-rope, and anything a normal gym would have. This place however is more clean and reminds me of my university recreation center. Even coming after work, it's not as busy as some of the more commercial places. They are undergoing a huge transformation but a lot of the gym is usable. The underground is the best with squash, lifting equipment, and rowing, treadmill, and elliptical. The area above the underground has an all gender sauna and pool however, if using the sauna; please remember it is co-ed! Some people are more than comfortable with their bodies, but at least remember to take off your shoes or heavy clothes; it's odd to sweat it out and see someone in full workout attire plop down (this has happened before :/).The staff is nice, the patrons are nice and in varying age groups. The only thing I would change about this place is access to the lower floors that you often have to buzz into. I am rarely faced with issue but sometimes the doors do not always unlock and you have to buzz again. Something they are unable to control is of course the cell phone signal; but there is wifi for messaging your gym partner when separated. I can't wait to see what 2018 has in store for this place!
