Had the Sunday lunch earlier today in the restaurant. Meat and vegetables were plentiful and delicious but the Yorkshire puddings were a bit over baked but overall a wonderful tasty meal. Service was very polite and friendly. Well worth a visit you won't be disappointed but its probably best to steer clear of the Christmas and New Year rush! I joined four friends for a meal on Thursday 5th December. It was fantastic value for money, the food was delicious. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, I never order a steak in the UK as it is never cooked how I like it, but it was perfect. ||The staff were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble, extra helpings of vegetables and sauce brought promptly to our table. There was also a singer who sang a wide variety of songs, had people up dancing.||The house white wine was very good value for money and was good quality. My husband and I had a very rare day of being child free. So we booked ourselves into the hotel and reserved a table in the restaurant for lunch and also for the evening entertainment. We arrived for our lunch and the place was really busy. We were seated promptly with a smile. Our waiter was polite, friendly and efficient. We had the set menu which was for three courses. It cost £12 with some suppliments dependant on your choice. The food was amazing. I honestly cannot see how this is achieved at such a price? The nicest meal I have had in a long time. After our meal we were found a seat in the bar area where we enjoyed the rest of our drinks.Again it was busy as there seemed to be alot of celebrations going on. Even with the amount of prople in the restaurant and bar, we were not rushed, nor kept waiting and the atmosphere was very nice. When we returned later in the evening again we were treated extremely well. After finishing our food we asked if we could be moved to a seat nearer to the entertainment. Unfortunately the large table of guests next to us liked to stand chatting, but as a result blocked our view. No fault of the restaurant and they were simply enjoying thmselves too. We were very quickly found a seat at the front. The entertainment was fun, and my husband even got up for a dance! I cannot recommend this venue enough. I visited this restaurant on the 27th Sept for lunch, excellent choice, I had hot brie, and then duck and a cream brulee cheesecake,then I went again on the evening of 1st October, I had prawns, liver and bacon and again the cream brulee, both times the meals were excellent, hot, presented nice and vegetables served separately, which is how is should be, hate everything put on plate when I dont want carrots and peas. This restaurant is the best in Thurrock and proper 'old school'||Water on table, bread and butter (no extra), and lovely cloth, not paper,serviettes, the new decor is grand, and the service is great, no long faces, staff are always curtious and friendly.
