Had a very nice lunch at the star low prices and excellent food service was good as well
Nice place with comfortable rooms, but beware lots of weddings, conferences which can get out of hand, and no nice lounges. An upmarket pub! Value varies.
Friendly staff , clean and comfortable rooms . Free car park. Well cooked , delicious breakfast. This was second visit and will definitely return next time visiting the area. Superb value for money. Thank you
Amazing food, service a bit slow at first but then attentive. Nice atmosphere.
The food was of gourmet standard. I wish there had been more choices than the handful on the printed menu. There are no daily specials nor is there a menu on a blackboard. The inn does not dissapoint. It is wonderfully Tudor in the bar area plus there is a fire. Go back into the main building and it is slightly above Travelodge in fact I rate Travelodge rooms better. The food is expensive but if you consider the ambience and the quality it is reasonable. The rooms are poor value. In the winter you have the place to yourself and it is nice. In the summer reservations are required More...
Always amazing food and service. My favourite place to go on a cold weekend.
Nice place, lovely interior, went there for a wedding took a long time to get things sorted. Great staff. Food for the wedding was terrible other then that had a fun night
This is a very cosy place and has a real traditional feel to it. In winter they have an open fire with two sofas (my preferred sitting) Service was ok but as I say. The location and atmosphere is the real reason to come here. More...
Nice hotel. The food in the pub is amazing, I would highly recommend! Perfect place to spend a relaxed evening.
Very friendly service, excellent food in 800 year old inn. Awesome
Went in for some lunch and a drink, it seemed very popular and a little on the pricey side at first but the food was fantastic and the staff were really friendly and I enjoyed my visit, I would recommend but not if you're paying for a whole family and you want to keep the bill under £100
Amazing venue, polite staff. Decent breakfast
Popped into The Star while visiting Alfriston for lunch in a Sunday and wasn't disappointed. The food was 1st class and the staff were very attentive and friendly. Highly recommended!!
Much bigger than you'd expect from the outside. Nicer too. Recommended.
Lovely venue, great food. Edited a lovely wedding reception here in the unique surroundings.
Price is a bit too high for a country pub, but then again food is better than a country pub too.
To me this place is successful at translating history to revenue in a small wonderful town.
Old Pub has a lot of character.
We stayed for one night while taking a minibreak tour in Sussex. Alfriston as a village is a worthwhile stop in any case, fantastic location and very pretty place woth lots to do and see. The Star Inn is really good, easy check in, great staff, very comfortable room, a pub (a decent pub not hotel bar) and restaurant. Food was good, my meaty offering was fresh and balanced, dearly beloved had the veggie option and thoroughly enjoyed it (we both wanted the Hake but it'd gone, actually I take this as a good thing) haddock at breakfast was perfect. And they made a great fuss of our dog too. All up really good, there are always things that could be better but in truth these were trivial and in no way interfered with our stay. I will be back, and I recommend it to you too! More...
Wonderful find. The room is great but the food in the bar is amazing. There are no words to explain how flavoursome my supper was
