It just gets better - fantastic setting with food to match!! Also stayed overnight - had a superb time. Lisa was extremely attentive - very much the personal touch. Greeted with a big smile and instead of us saying congratulations it was Lisa - she had remembered we got married while Del Amitris was on the move! Thank you for the very generous gesture. What more could you ask for - a delicious dinner, peaceful overnight stay and a most enjoyable breakfast - staff could not have done enough for us! We came here for Christmas dinner and it was absolutely faultless. Service was quick but not rushed and plenty of staff to make sure we had everything that we needed. All 6 corses were lovely. We dined in the restaurant during Del Amitri's first week in Powfoot and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. That time we booked a table but this time four of us called in on a Friday evening without a booking on the off-chance of a cancellation allowing us to dine. There had been no cancellations but we were told we could enjoy the same menu in the Bar - no need to book. We decided to take up the offer and we were not disappointed. Once we had 'registered' at the bar we received excellent service (for both food and drink) throughout the evening. Whilst we didn't have the 'dedicated' server that we had in the restaurant there were plenty of staff and they were very friendly and attentive. The menu was the same as in the restaurant and we enjoyed starters, mains, side orders - and two of us had room for dessert. All quickly served and delicious and in very pleasant surroundings. Not our first time at the 'under new management' Powfoot Hotel but a pleasant evening none the less. We went to check out their Jazz night.
It was really quiet; but then it was a school night.I hope word gets around though, I can see how a bigger crowd could add atmosphere to the event.
The staff were really pleasant and helpful and the atmosphere in the sun-room was very chilled.
We have eaten there three times now and enjoyed the food every time. I wonder though whether they could provide an alternative menu in the bar. Maybe having the excellent menu in the bar steals some of the distinct experience you get in the restaurant. Just a thought. We are local to Powfooot and we appreciate that they have made the local community welcome. We'll be back for the Jazz next month, keep us posted please. Roland and Lorna

At last we've found a hotel that ticked all our boxes! The location was absolutely beautiful and tranquil, the room and bathroom spotlessly clean with a wonderful view of the golf course, very comfortable bed and bedding, the much appreciated homemade food, it's presentation and quality were faultless and the staff extremely helpful and polite. All at a very reasonable price. We won't bother looking anywhere else for our golfing breaks.......we'll be back! More...

The food was spot on, the service was timed just right right and very helpful friendly staff, it's a very clean place great atmosphere and we had the best view, it's at a great location in front of the beach. I must emphasize I am being VERY pernickety here but my only complaints would be that the we where seated the lights weren't on in the area we were sat in but the switches were in the corner so it was easy enough to just switch them on and after the end the bill didn't arrive very promptly and had to be requested. All in we were all very happy with our experience though. I would rate it 5/5!!!? I'll be back. More...

Had a lovely overnight stay at The Powfoot Hotel. All members of staff were welcoming and engaging. The food we had for our evening meal and subsequent breakfast was excellent both for quality and quantity. Our superior room was comfortable and relaxing. We were delighted to hear that Lisa and Martin were taking over the hotel. It has been a big miss in village life. Finally managed to go for a meal with friends on Tuesday evening, sitting in the bar area, which has a nice relaxed feel to it. Lots of delicious sounding meals to choose from, all four of us had something different - all delicious and four clean plates. The staff are delightful, very attentive, efficient and friendly. I am now planning a return so that I can sample the dining room! Remember to book though - even on Tuesday it was full - which is a great sign. More...

Our second visit to the Del Amitri hotel since the new owners took over. Excellent hotel in beautiful surroundings with a wonderful happy atmosphere generated by the most friendly and attentive staff team who could hardly do more to make you feel welcome.
Very high standard of cuisine, with dishes from an interesting, varied but unpretentious menu
beautifully cooked and presented. Little wonder that dining tables are in high demand from hotel guests and locals alike. A real Solway gem!

When we phoned for a table they were fully booked but encouraged us to come along and try the bar menu.
The food was outstanding, a tremendous choice of interesting meals.
The accompanying veg etc was delightful, everything complimented the main course. The cheeses were awesome (we went to the local Farmers' market today to buy more!). Desserts was delish. We will be back!
