I love the retro appeal of the tea room here, totally felt transported to the 1920s. They have the most fabulous vintage champagne glasses!
Impressive grand cinema. I saw a horror double feature here and it was really great to watch films m such a historic venue. Great work by the volunteers!
We went to see Russell Kane here last night. Great show. I haven't belly laughed like that for a long time. The Plaza has disabled facilities here but there aren't any disabled parking spaces close to hand if you are thinking of visiting here and use a wheelchair. Ordering the disabled tickets is easy enough as the box office staff were very helpful. There are spaces allocated for disabled patrons at the back of the auditorium and also at the sides of some seating rows. Access is fine, although it was a little chaotic getting in for us as there was a lot of people milling around. Once through that initial hold up though, access to the seats we had was very straightforward. There is a disabled access toilet to the right of the auditorium but be aware that there is a steep slope so getting down on your own is easy enough, but unless you are an Olympian with good upper body strength you may struggle getting back to your seat so keep this in mind! The staff are mostly volunteers who do an excellent job and if you can give a little donation on the way out to contribute to the upkeep of this historical theatre it will be very much appreciated. Absolutely fab show Queen of the night everyone dancing and singing
We recently visited the plaza for Milkshake Live performance with our three year old. the venue was very clean and well maintained, toilets were acceptable and the general atmosphere was overall a nice environment. the performance was enjoyed and great fun, our daughter loved it. There was also the option to buy refreshments on entry and during the interval which is a great way to support the theatre as we all had a great day out. Would recommend to anyone in the north or near Manchester area, was surprised by the interior as well. Sure it’s all original decor but should just go see for yourself. Sat and had a picnic on the steps over the road by the bridge, in the sun it’s a great little wind trap so just gets the pure sun. This was also a highlight of the trip to Stockport. More...

Originally an Art Deco cinema opened in the 1930s the building has been fully restored to a provide a theater and cinema in the same space. It is staffed by volunteers who were all helpful and is stunning both inside and out. Cinema nights are not normally full and seating is not allocated. More...
Love this place so much. A beautiful old theatre that has been restored to its former glory. We come here to see the Banff Film festival and other performances and we are never disappointed
Been here several times cannot praise it enough. Lovely surroundings. Food delicious. Staff fantastic. Already have our next visit booked!
What a beautiful Art Deco theatre!
just been to see the easter panto......great performance lovely staff....needs support of local community to keep thos amazing theatre going.
Absolutely fantastic Art Deco theatre. To my shame, despite living nearby for several years I had never been. In the stalls at least, there isn't a great deal on the way of legroom and you will surely encounter queues for food, drinks and conveniences, but these are minor quibbles and you have to consider that the venue is coming up to 90 years old. Huge respect to the volunteers.
The staff are great (ran by volunteers) and the venue is beautiful, restored to a high standard and still has its original features including an organ from as far back as the 1930's.Good choice of seating the stage is viewable from pretty much any seat and is good for accessibility needs. More...
What a fab place. Had a fabulous lunch of sausage on brown bread and it was spectacular. The sausage was the best sausage I've ever eaten and it came on a generous plate of salad. Very reasonable price too. So great to see the place so lovingly restored for the future. Be sure to leave a big tip because the staff are volunteers so I've been told More...

Watched Sleeping Beauty tonight and it was fantastic. Ted Robbins was as brilliantly funny as always. The dragon scene was spectacular, as were the cast and costumes. Well done to all involved

Fantastic evening last night for the Stylistics, great atmosphere, even my daughters enjoyed it. Again well done The Plaza.
Visited the tea room with my mum this week. We enjoyed delicious coffee and cakes, with beautiful berries on the side! Great friendly service as always
Fantastic restoration and a fine theatre. Stockport’s Gem!
What fantastic staff! I fell tonight over the road from the Plaza but on my way there. I finally got there extremely shaken up and a bit battered, bruised and grazed. The staff who greeted me and my husband were very kind and helpful. Thank you very much. You are all fantastic x More...
We saw the Beach Boyz tribute act last night, brilliant, the band was great, the music and harmonies were perfect, close your eyes and you'd think it was the Beach Boys. Fantastic show. After the show the boys came and met the public and thanked everyone as they were leaving. Well done. Found the staff very helpful and friendly, great night thank you. More...
I attended the recent guided back stage door and throughly enjoyed having access to all areas of this marvellous building, including dressing rooms and projection room. The history and details of the magnificent renovations carried out were brought to life by well informed and enthusiastic volunteers. A fantastic visit - well recommended! More...
Came here to the restaurant for afternoon tea and it was great. The decor is quite art deco, cosy, clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and great to see the old ladies working away with a smile and a laugh. Food wise, we went for the The Plaza Afternoon Tea selection and the cakes were ace. The mini eclairs and cakes were so good I wish I could order more! Definitely worth a stop! More...

Love the plaza it's a great theatre
Visited this evening to see Count Arthur Strong but loved the Plaza, first time we've been. Beautiful art deco venue and the guy on the Compton theatre organ was ace! Was like stepping back in time. So impressed at your maintaining this gem of a theatre. More...
Staggered by the wonderful refurbishment of this theatre. It looks fantastic. We should treasure architectural gems like this.
This is a fantastic building. It looks great and has some great gigs, concerts, films etc. I think it's run by a lot of volunteers so it's not the slickest operation but that can be forgiven. There's so much history here and the art deco look make it a wonderful venue. More...
Good venue, easy to get to by train or bus and comfortable seating. On the down side the place needs more bar facilities to reduce queuing and better signage of where the existing bars are. Similarly toilet facilities are not in abundance or perhaps I just didn't find them, don't let this put you off though this is a really nice venue. More...
What a great building, run entirely by volunteers, looks fantastic at night when it is all lit up. Real art deco. Oh, went to see the Bee Gee story, not the best show ever nevertheless OK. Building is well worth a visit.
Fabulous theatre! It was clean and luxurious and the seats were comfy too which is always a plus. Cafe amd bar area are really nice and are not overly expensive. Staff in the plaza are really friendly and helpful. Acts performing here are always amazing! Lot's of room inside so you are not crammed together. More...
Went to see the Blossoms on Saturday. All the staff here are very helpful, wonderful Art Deco interior. The snacks are not overpriced, and the toilets are lovely and clean.
If you book you can go for afternoon tea, lovely surroundings and the cakes are to die for! All the waiters and waitresses are really helpful and will go out of there way to assist. This place us really like stepping back in time. Always reminds me of the tv programme Good night Sweetheart! More...

Great theatre and excellent community facility. The restaurant is excellent and I would recommend the afternoon teas. Very friendly and accommodating staff
First trip for me, to The Plaza cafe yesterday with my parents and my children and we all loved it! My 7 year old enjoyed her afternoon tea served on the traditional tiered plates, the food was delicious and the waiting staff were fabulous with my children too! Lovely food, great atmosphere and service. Looking forward to going back. Thank you! More...

Love the plaza fantastic place lovely venue cant bet it x
Excellent place and a must see theatre/cinema venue. Parking is rather limited for such a large place so best to go early to find a space. Check out the excellent variety of events coming up on their website. My boyfriend (Peter) and I recently took a neighbour to watch their excellent live production of Oklahoma. It was fantastic and we were all singing along to the famous songs. More...
Well what can we say, we celebrated our wedding here yesterday, absolutely fantastic, everyone was great, Ted, staff and the volunteers, was a great talking point, and the plaza has certainly been put on the map by the southerners. Thank you so much.
Quaint Art Nouveau dining experience. We had afternoon tea. Good selection. Box provided for taking some cakes home. Attentive service. Run by volunteers who love the Plaza More...
Cracking theatre. Lots of choice for entertainment from comedians, live music, films and you can book for a behind the scenes tour. It is run by volunteers who are always collecting for funds to keep the theatre going. A cafe is situated upstairs and there are a couple of bars dotted about selling reasonably priced food and drink. The front of the building has been seen on many TV productions as it is styled in the 1930's theme. Give it a visit as there's not many of these gems around anymore. More...
We had a lovely afternoon tea at the Plaza today with tasty sandwiches and a range of homemade cakes. Reasonably priced too, would recommend! Make sure you book if you go on a Saturday as the first time we tried to go we were turned away as they were full :) More...

This is the 5th year running we have seen the panto and this one was by far the best! Funny and great costumes! Well done to everyone, we’ve had a great afternoon.
Really fab family friendly pantomime with lots of audience participation. We’ve paid a lot more for “bigger” names and supposedly grander productions but this is the one we’ll be coming back to
Took grandchild to the panto and yet again another stunning production. Everyone is so helpful and go above and beyond for their customers. And most staff are voluntary too. It is a lovely theatre and keep immaculately clean. I can't praise it enough. Highly recommend people to visit this lovely historic theatre. More...

Absolutely fantastic Pantomime this year!! We thought last year's was good until today! Everything stops for tea is a great Christmas themed afternoon tea full of light entertainment and lovely sandwiches! Would definitely recommend to get you in the mood for Christmas!
Beautiful theatre with some classic original features. Not least the organ, and god save the queen at the end of a screening! The campiest place I've ever been!
A beautifully restored theatre. Lovely, friendly staff. A great place!
Went to see the Stylistics, what a great show and venue
Tremendous service of remembrance yesterday at The Plaza very professional performance by the Ashton on Mersey band a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon in a lovely theatre in my hometown
Just wanted to say thank you very much Stockport plaza and Facebook for my prize of two tickets to see The Stylistics last night , me and my husband had such a good night and the seats were really good such a great view, thanks very much xx
I had a Awesome time in the Plaza really enjoyed myself from going in meeting the Gentleman on the door to coming out with a lovely friendly lady letting us out and of course seeing the STYLISITICS x
We went to see the stylistics and they were great but did not think the warm up artist was appropiate or very good. What was most annoying was the audience talking all the way through the act and taking pictures and videos _ it spoilt the whole experience
It was a great venue to see the stylistics. However the support act beforehand wasn't fitting with the evening and was awful. Everything else was perfect
Excellent art deco theatre/cinema. Friendly staff. Well worth a visit.
Lovely theatre, great show. Shame there aren’t enough ladies toilets. The queues were so long some ladies missed the opening number of the 2nd half!
It's a beautiful little theatre, well worth a visit. Watched Oklahoma, it was amazing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My husband and i, enjoyed our 35th wedding anniversary celebration here yesterday. It was so nice, we were well looked after from start to finish. We will definetly be returning.....Thank you. More...
Good night watching alexander o neil. Venue really nice, staff were very friendly and helpful ... Bar shut around 930, which was strange. Alot of people wanted a drink, and were refused More...
When with my sister in law to see Alexander O"Neal what an amazing nite. Was thoroughly looked after and assisted by staff and was given a great disabled space for my chair. Will definately be going to see other acts I like when they come to the Plaza. Very disabled friendly More...
Impressive Art Deco building. Very helpful and friendly staff. A big 9/10 from us. Want a 10? Install a handrail down the centre of the circle centre aisle. That is a dangerous and precarious route, extremely steep and not a thing to hold on to. Everyone said the same. More...
Went to see Alexander o Neal fantastic but the drinks are way too EXPENSIVE
Went to see George Michael tribute act, loved every moment of it, staff were very friendly, bought drinks first, then a bottle of wine, told we couldn't take the wine in the theatre, we couldn't drink it all, so left it behind, it didn't matter we absolutely enjoyed our self's and would definitely come again
I was taken to see the George Micheal tribute act with my mum , beautiful building and loved every minute of the concert so nice to see different generations up and dancing in the room I’d like to think he would of been proud :) the band and tribute act were very good :)
Lovely theatre.all the Staff very efficient, brilliant show, and very friendly people sitting by us,would go again.
Beautiful theatre.Went to see George Michael tribute, great show spoilt by people talking behind us all the time ,if people want to talk dont go to a theatre and ruin it for others go somewhere else .
Excellent experience. Good food. With traditional table service in art deco surroundings. Recommended.
Awsome building great night out every time. Staff are all volunteers so staff are always very nice and welcoming
Nice traditional theatre. Lots of interesting shows for all ages. Some first time visitors might be confused by the seat ordering. Odd and even seats are on opposite sides of the theatre. Row numbers are not obvious as they are stamped on the carpet. More...
I adore this fabulous Art Deco building. Mainly run with staff & volunteers. It offers something for everyone from Theatre, music and a great little bar!
I enjoy going to the cafeteria at the Plaza, it's reminiscent of a 1930's tea rooms, the staff dressed in uniform applicable to that period. Afternoon tea is just that, relaxing and enjoyable while the world passes by. If you intend to visit on a Saturday, I recommend booking a table as it can, and does, get busy. More...
Good . Stage a bit far from front rows . And toilets are far away from seats. I was seeing the fizz. Formally bucks fizz. They where having a off night running 20 mins late
.lighting and sound issues too ( not the plazas fault ) . So I missed the last 15 mins had to run for my train . The plaza looks nice inside I love old buildings . Nice staff . Would I return , maybe but not for music act . More...
An amazing art deco theatre restored by a community charity, we have been to lots of events here and never been disappointed. The Plaza Cafe is very reasonable for breakfast or lunch. We are going to a Murder Mystery Dinner next month so that will be an interesting experience! More...
Great night at the Plaza watching the Rising Stars of Stockport performing and raising money for The Wellspring. Great talent, brilliant atmosphere, beautiful venue. 5 star!
Like stepping back in time, large comfortable seats. Bar/refreshment prices same as anywhere else. Lack of disabled parking but not really an issue.
The Plaza is a marvellous Art Deco cinema and theatre and I really enjoy watching films and shows there. The interior is wonderful. To watch a film there is a great experience - with much more to it than your average multiplex. Ticket prices are good value. I'd visit more often and would've rated it five stars if the process of actually buying tickets from the Box Office was easier. While the staff are nice and helpful, they seem hamstrung by the computer till system and on a number of occasions I've left empty handed as the transaction couldn't be completed. Apart from that The Plaza is well worth a visit. More...
Brilliant service, the phone was answered straight away during lunch time, very friendly lady took my order and processed it immediately. The whole process took about 4 minutes. The Plaza is also a beautiful theatre always a pleasure to visit . More...
