The best Best Western I've stayed in by a long way. Great staff with sense of humour. Buffet roast and breakfast is superb quality. Secure storage for cycles. Recommend increasing beer selection, and adding portable fans in the rooms. More...
Pleasant, clean hotel in a pretty village near the South Downs Way.
Excellent dinner and breakfast ( both buffet ) with good quality produce. One of the nicest wines I've ever had in a British hotel.
I shall definitely return. More...
Went for a meal for my birthday. Although there were 30 of us the service was excellent as was the food.we all had a lovely time . Would definitely recommend .
Just went here for lunch again. Always good food, good service from lovely people and beautiful surroundings. FABULOUS.
Beautiful setting and fantastic variety of food buffet style, for starters and dessert, carvery for main. Set price for Sunday., and reasonable as you can return for more of all. Attentive staff, lovely ambience, have visited twice in recent weeks, will look to return again soon. More...
Good food with a varied selection and nice ambience. However they use the same carving tong and knife for all meats. My wife and I don't eat pork for religious reasons, but others may have allergies so not good practice in my opinion.
Beautiful hotel to stay as well as just go for lunch or dinner. Lovely location. Plenty of parking. Very friendly and welcoming.
Ben,who looked after us at the Baby Shower yesterday, was absolutely amazing! We were in a private lounge which had been set up beautifully!! He made sure we were 'topped up' with tea and coffee during the afternoon and the Afternoon Tea was delicious!! Ben is an absolute asset to your hotel and when we come back again(hopefully soon!!!!!) we'd want him to be there!! Anne Knox More...
Had Sunday carvery. Just amazing. Ollie the chef is amazing. So helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommend for coeliac disease. Ollie is like a guru! So very helpful. Not cheap but worth every penny More...
We had a fantastic New Years Eve at The Old Tollgate . The food was excellent, the Haggis (piped in by The Scottish Piper) was superb, and the disco brilliant. However, the ambience of the night was set by the staff who all dressed accordingly ( to the theme of the night) and made the evening so special. Our thanks goes to the duty manager, Ben Ward, who was great fun, attentive and made our night so much fun. Well done to you and all your staff. More...
I love this hotel. Something different than hotels I stayed so far. Opposite of the bed is a Jacuzzi, not usual. Usually they have Jacuzzi in bath room. I loved to use it to read newspapers and to relax. The hotel itself and the surrounding very nice too. If I come again to Shoreham, I would stay here again. I miss also the fish and chip in the pub just in walking distance from this hotel. I tried later 'fish and chip' in other pubs and restaurants around England. But the one close to our hotel is the best so far. More...
A great place to eat after a nice long walk along the river Adur to work up an an appetite. Went on a Sunday afternoon which means they are serving a three course all-you-can-eat Sunday Roast. Plenty of options on the starters from meats/fish to salads to soup. Just don't go mad so you have enough space for the other two courses. Mains are several types of meats if you want, or a few meal options such as mushroom stroganoff. They are not stingy with meat . I went for turkey which was tasty and not dry. Plenty of vegetables on offer and all tasted great, particularly the cauliflower cheese. Feeling quite full, we went to have a look at the desserts. So many options. At the time we went up there was no one to ask about allergens and it's not written on the board so I went for the safe option, the fruit salad and ice cream which was fresh and delicious. Well worth a visit. Good value for money at £22.50 per person. More...

Fabulous hotel in every way! The reception staff were cheerful, friendly and efficient. The double room was beautifully furnished , comfortable and very clean. The choice of food was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for the dining staff, who made sure our party of 17 people were very well catered for. A thoroughly enjoyable stay at The Old Tollgate - I would highly recommend it. More...
Super carvery suitable for all tastes. Advise booking and a good deals with their vouchers. The desserts are mouthwatering.
Excellent restaurant for a roast. Hot and Cold starters, awesome selection of roast meats plus specials and fabulous desserts. Have as much starter and dessert as you dare and maybe even squeeze in some delicious fromage from the cheese board. Sunday lunch is £22.50 for 3 courses but I think that's quite reasonable considering what is on offer. More...

Loved it, friendly efficient staff, clean, tidy, spacious rooms. Quaint old English village setting.
Execellent food and service - well worth a visit
Food was absolutely fantastic, such good value for money if you have a voucher! Highly recommended!
Lovely Hotel and Carvery! Friendly helpful staff and big clean rooms in a beautiful setting! Definitely recommended
Loved the old tollgate. Staff were brilliant, location is lovely, rooms were good. Service was exceptional.
A large hotel with two quarters, the Old Tollgate Hotel is located just outside Steyning in Bramber. Rooms are comfortable, clean and offer all the amenities you could expect. Breakfast is good, as is dinner.
Always get such a great carvery and always leave feeling very happy and very full! Lovely setting too.
Very clean Hotel with a very comfortable bed. What more do you need? Didn't try the Carvery but looked lovely. Cooked breakfast was served by very hot lady under the heat lamps. Gold Medal for not passing out! Waitress was very helpful. Got our table ready while we waited in the lounge and didn't leave us waiting long More...
