me and hubby, had a long weekend away on 30th November, amazing pub with the rooms newly refurbished and lovely and clean, food was amazing and great selection of gins x 5 star bar staff very welcoming, can not wait to visit again in the new year x

After hearing about this special little place my wife and I travelled from Melbourne to find out what was so special and we weren’t disappointed. The fresh and local food that was plated in the evening was outstanding and could not be faulted. The front of house service is good with very friendly staff and Emma is a very bubble person and is a joy to have a chat with over a glass of wine. As we stayed in Oddfellows for a couple of nights the rooms are very comfortable but the floors are thin so you can hear what is going on in the pub at night. We phoned up in the hope they could fit us in and they did the food was so lovely it was a little slow as they was short staffed but the meal was so lovely we went back on our last night just as wonderful. Great value for money too

Another lovely evening at the Oddfellows with my partner and the children. The chef, James, catered wonderfully for all of us. We can’t thank him enough for being so flexible and for his first rate food. My partner and I had the delicious smoked fish cakes from the specials board; the kids had cheeseburgers and fries/chips. Not a single scrap was left on the plate from anyone, and the grownups washed it all down with a perfect pint of Cockerhoop. The bar staff are always on point, too. Amongst the hundreds of ‘welcoming’ public houses within the Lake District, we stumbled upon a double fronted, chocolate box public house that was steeped within history. Two moments later, we stumbled over the threshold and at the drop of a hat two of most finest publicans I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting emerged. It goes without saying, that within the 14 years of debauchery (and counting) I’ve never felt as welcome within these four walls. Might be something to do with the warmth from that burner when meandering in. I enquired for a blonde ale to be met by a plethora of choice, blondes, milds, stouts and a comprehensive top shelf, is set my sights on a lighter variety of the Wychwood, Hobgoblin. Perfect brew. We have just enjoyed Christmas lunch at The Oddfellows. I really wanted to score this as 4/5 but it was just so much better than expected that I have to give it 5/5. What a stroke of luck to come across The Oddfellows Arms while on a short break. Emma made us (and our dog Dudley) feel very welcome and we enjoyed a superb meal in a very friendly and welcoming environment. We had the Tomahawk steak for two which was cooked to perfection by James - very highly recommended, you have to try it if it’s on the specials board! We called in on a Friday lunchtime and were very impressed with the food. We have a 2 year old who likes to give us the run around and we might have felt a little awkward or self-conscious in less friendly places, but we were all warmly welcomed and the service couldn't be faulted. Prices were reasonable and the food was all completely fresh, well presented, and delicious. Spent most of the way home talking about how good it tasted.
