Lovely food and great pub. We witnessed 3 20 year old young men play fighting on the floor of the pub being a pain to about 9 people going to toilet. A bouncer may be helpful, especially for Xmas time. More...

If you are thinking about booking this place, just do it as you won't be disappointed. We were looking for somewhere we could stay after a visit to both Morecambe and the Blackpool illuminations and whilst it was a 40 min drive from Blackpool it was a great choice. Food fab and we slept like babies in the lovely comfortable room. Will not hesitate to book again the next time we are in the area. More...

Stayed recently whilst step daughter had an 18th party at home. Whilst initial check in was t easy due to the bar being very busy we were shown to our room which was very clean indeed with plenty of room for both of us and our dog. They had forgotten to mention when we reserved a table in advance that there was a race night that night and as a result they had also reserved a table in the restaurant I. Case we thought it too noisy. We went for the bar option so we could have our dog with us, the spot we were put in was great, slightly out of the main area. Food was excellent and it was also Oktoberfest so I filled my boots with German beer. In the morning we were given a table in the bar again so that we could have our dog with us, even better, straight in front of the tv for the rugby. Overall a great value stay and thoroughly enjoyable. Looking forward to a return visit More...

We have had many a lovely meal there but never stayed over, for a birthday treat we enjoyed the Friday Fizz evening. We arrived to a busy bar and restaurant which is always a good sign, shown to our room with a bottle of fizz waiting on ice, then followed by a great meal in the restaurant. Rooms very comfy with everything provided for a good nights sleep. Breakfast was amazing, loads of choice, service excellent. Definitely be back to stay. More...

As regular visitors to Longlands which is a very attractive pub/restaurant close to the Lancaster canal where we have a boat, we have been disappointed and/or frustrated more than once recently. |One of their regular offers is an early bird menu wwith their regular, extensive selection of pizzas featured at a very reasonable price. On 14 August, as my partner had a very early flght from Mnchester the next morning we decided that an early dinner, cheap and cheerful pizzas would serve us well. After we had paid for drinks we were told that they were 'not doing pizzas'. There were no signs that we were made aware of to alert customers to this before they had paid for a drink so we had already paid approximately the price of two pizzas before we knew and were therefore, with a 3 am start, more or less committed. We had to choose an alternative which meant we spent over 45 pounds instead of the 20 -25 pounds we had anticipated. I do not have pizzas very often but had been really looking forard to it on this occasion. |The food we ate was fine but the point is that we were told that the pizzas were not being served due to staff shortage. One month earlier a barman searched hopelessly in the white wine fridge for Merlot and did not even know that this fairly popular wine was a red till my partner suggested that 'red wines are usually storeed in that area I think,' poining to the reds. I do not blame the barman so much but whoever is suppoosed to train them. On another occasion we waited ages to get served while a female member of the bar staff asked to borrow a colleague's pen and stood doing nothing or rather chatting to him, for several munutes until he had finished with it despite a queue at the bar. |On 14 July, my birthday I had decided we would go to the Longlands and I would have the Wimbledon Special, steak and strawberries, which had been advertised for some time on a board behind the bar. After watching the Murray match we walked across, looking forward to our meal to be told they were not doing the special at the weekend! I pointed out that it was Wimbledon finals weekend and the sign was still up with no indication that it would finish before Wimbledon ended but again I was told it was to do with staffing.|I like the Longlands and have actually introduced a number of people to it when they have visited us on our boat, including booking rooms there for them. The food is usually good and attractively served but my enthusiasm is really going downhill. The waiting to be served at the bar which we often experience and the obvious lack of good staff trainingI is spoiling an otherwise good experience. If the bar staff are not quick and efficient it can spoil an evening. If they are short staffed, surely they should call in reserves, not just cut the menu without at least dislaying notices to that effect! |I have recommended the Longlands on many occasions but now I find myself adding a warning about slow service and checking that everything on the menu is available. It is such a shame when the shortcomings could be put right so easily. More...

Been to this restaurant twice in August||||The Ham and Red Onion Marmalade sandwich (served with chips and salad) was excellent and great to share as a snack. The quality of the food made us return for a meal. Had two steaks and vegetables.... Can't fault the meal, side salad. Had a great meal. Prices were reasonable.||||I can understand a few of the other reviews, the staff were very "matter of fact" and not very chatty. But they had weddings on both days and the service was still quick they even filled our water bottle before we resumed our walk.||||Will go there again. More...
