Absolutely love Wychwood. There were 42 of us this year and I'm sure there will be even more next year! Just some feedback for you. The positives were: The stewards were fantastically accommodating to our large group and let us all camp to together in the campervan field. This was very much appreciated as we were such a large group with lots of young children. Generally they were relaxed and always smiling. The showers were absolutely amazing. The best I have had at a festival. some really good food stalls and activities on for the kids. All of the headline acts were really good, Basil Brush was amazing and so was Gena Washington and Craig Charles. Silent Disco was immense On the negative side, I didn't like the new layout, and felt the kids activity tents should have been altogether in one place and also too cramped. We like the bigger kids field with everything in one place as its much better to use as a base and explore the activities in one place. Didn't like the fairground rides where they were, too in your face! Also the walk into the field from the camping area was much more of a trek this year which is difficult when you are carrying toddlers. The area by the main stage was too crowded and small. There was no hope of us being able to sit altogether. For some reason the children aren't allowed to play on the big green in the middle of the race course but I dont see why. Its wonderful for them to have such a large open space to play in and I can't really see the harm they are doing. I would love you to bring back the hot tub in front of the stage. My happiest Wychwood memories were spent in there listening to Thrill Collins. Wonderful family festival. We will be back! More...

Been to Wychwood every year apart from the very first and cannot think of a better way to start the festival season. Wasn't sure about the new layout initially, but actually I thought it worked really well as younguns could be taken to their areas which were quieter for them. Toilets were wonderful...thanks to Andy Loos who are the best. We also liked the new getting in system....good plan Wychwood. Enjoyed the afternoon acts more than the headliners, but it's all down to personal taste isn't it.....also, due to a massive sadness in our family we spent a lot of time on the campsite relaxing and reflecting Looking forward to 2020...Thank you Graeme and team...keep up the good work xxx More...

My daughter and I enjoyed our 5th festival this year! She loves the crafts and camping.. well everything really! Previously we have booked a tent through pillow but thought we’d give the family camping a go this year! There were lots of positives as usual.. the bands, food, atmosphere, showers were clean and a good temperature, lots of activities for my daughter, friendly staff and lots more!! I’ve already booked for next year as this is a must do weekend in our calendar every year! A few points though that I thought needed mentioning and it seem other reviews seem to be picking up on too.. 1)Now the layout has changed, the area in front of the stage (Daves) seemed far to small. If you went back to the tent and came back any time after 5pm to watch the evening entertainment, it was hard to find any space at all to put a chair never mind a blanket for children to sit on. If you were in a group of more than 2/3 it was virtually impossible to find a space! 2)the walk from the family camping to the arena had doubled in length! I guess there must have been a reason for this but it did make it more difficult to just pop back and get something if you needed it and for a youngish child it seemed like the end of the world and ‘sooooo far sway’ 3)unloading the car was a nightmare .. again numerous long walks back and forth from the outside of the race track to the tent. 4)a lot more crafts charging a lot more money and along with all the rides.. making it difficult not to feel out of pocket at the end of the weekend. I love Wychwood.. the above points are only to hopefully help improve and keep the ‘vibe’ of the festival that it has alive.. i had a fab weekend and so did my daughter. it’s so friendly .. including the staff and parking attendants as well as the other people attending. It also feels safe and relaxed. Thank you for making it a great weekends fun an entertainment hopefully my daughter and I will continue to enjoy for years to come More...

Brilliant festival! We have been coming for 4 years and have had an amazing time every single year! Very family friendly and good value for money. A few things changed this year - some for the better, some for the worse :( Positives - change in the camping rules and very accommodating stewards allowed our large family group of mixed caravans, tents and trailer tents to camp together. Something we are extremely grateful for as with 15 children below the age of 8 it made for a much easier time at bedtimes, meal times etc. Negatives - unfortunately we struggled with the new layout. Previous years we could find a spot near the children’s literacy, craft, dancing, circus, etc tents, and the children could come and go on different activities (with adults) leaving trolleys and bags with someone in that one spot so we didn’t take up much needed space inside the tents. Also, previously, because it was all in one place we managed to see more authors and do more activities as we could actually see what was going on in each tent. The layout this year made it all a little disjointed. The craft tent felt a lot smaller also. There was an awful lot of commercial things there - the football thing, the inflatables, the fair, right in the middle of the areas more children would be in which felt like we were under constant pocket assault! It was much better when they were on the edges - it was then a treat for the children to go on them. (Also the music from the chair swing was absolutely pounding and drowning out any of the good music coming from any of the surrounding tents / stages) The space in front of the main stage is not big enough and it was very difficult to find somewhere for us all to go to watch bands. Even going separately there was no where on some occasions we could sit with small children to enjoy the bands. Previous years there was a lot more space and there wasn’t the constant flow of people trying to find enough space to have a dance without stepping on someone! We didn’t see any of the stalls this year as we couldn’t get to them at the times we wanted to. The space being smaller meant more people were sat right outside the entrances making browsing difficult. All in all the changes won’t stop us coming but I throughly agree with others - if it ain’t broke..... Ultimately the way it was previously felt like it flowed much better and we came away feeling like we had been everywhere and done everything we possibly could.... not so much this year ‍♀️ We love Wychwood. Thank you for another amazing weekend...(but please change it back ) More...

Love Wychwood...however everyone I have asked here does not like the new lay out . To cap it all the ‘management ‘ have announced that later on the seats will have to be moved . The area around Dave’s tent is smaller ... but the area for standing only has increased ... work that out !! I think they will have great difficulty moving seats that are a distance from the stage .... where will they go Music & atmosphere still great ...& great value for money ... but I hesitate to confirm we will return.... if it ain’t broke don’t fix it ! The food vendors are obviously a revenue earner ... but do we have to have them on top of us More...

This was our (daughter 8 and myself) fourth year this year at Wychwood. Yet again the weather spoilt us and we had lots of fun. Plenty of stuff to do for younger children as always. The large rotating swigs were a success as was the dodgems again (if a little expensive!) I agree with a few other reviews about the main stage acts not really being up to Wychwoods high standard but this said, it was still a great weekend and by far the best family festival around.

On a personal note it’s a shame the festival wasn’t the weekend before as my daughter would have been on holiday and it would have enabled us to stay the Sunday evening but as usual we had to leave Sunday daytime due to school the next day and in my opinion the best acts on the main stage were actually on Sunday evening! ( Feeder and Shed 7) which I was gutted to miss!

A really well organised festival as always. Lots to do. Fantastic weather. We were a bit disappointed with the main stage acts this year. The Beat and Toyah were great but in recent years we've seen the likes of The Levellers, The Stranglers, the Boomtown Rats, the Selector, OMD, the Buzzcocks and Bad Manners to name but a few. The comedy was good and some of the acts on the other stages were good too. The silent disco wasnt silent this year and kept us awake because of the shouting and singing and then at 8 in the morning a lady in the large marquee behind the accessible camping started singing loudly to her guitar which woke us up. I'm not sure why she would want to wake the whole campsite up so early! Please look at trying to get some better acts next year. One suggestion of a localish band is The Stiff Joints an 11 piece ska band from kidderminster. They really get the crowd going. They appeared here 4 years ago on bbc introducing but they are doing loads of festivals. More...

It was our first time at Wychwood festival this year. We came with our 5yr old son and friends and their 7.5 yr old child. The festival was very well set out and organised, clean and safe. The toilets were remarkably clean and plenty of loo roll. The bands were brilliant especially CC Smugglers, Dhol Foundation, Buzzcocks, Thrill Collins, Levellers and the Flaming Gods from Bahrain. Our children enjoyed dancing in the evening with their glo-sticks. The food stalls were great offering a wide selection of world foods. Only slight negative was that there were no child size portions available apart from at The Farmers wife stall on our campsite. It would be good if there had been a stall offering children's meals ie pasta, jacket potatoes, mini wraps etc The Tibetan stall was great though selling thick slices of watermelon for £1 which was a great snack for the children in our group. The campsite itself was very clean, spacious and not too noisy at night with toilets and surprisingly good showers nearby. Our son really enjoyed the go- karts, fairground attractions, the comedy clown and kite making workshop. The beer was good though we were expecting a bit more of a selection. Particularly liked Hobgoblin Gold and the Pimms. We will definitely return next year! More...

This was our third year at Wychwood and although it does feel like the festival is slowly shrinking with less stalls we still thoroughly enjoyed. My two sons 4 & 6 yrs were disappointed not to see the bubble tent, but as usual spent a lot of time practising their circus skills at the circus tent and enjoying the many kids shows that ran throughout the weekend. We had fun dancing to some great music and as always are looking forward to next year. More...

But we got there late in the morning and no queues. Plenty of food options and drink was £5 a pint . Very much a family oriented festival. A good mix of bands and not too overcrowded. Didnt see anywhere to buy any provisions you may have forgotten to bring with you. So stock up . We had a major downpour through the night and it had all drained away in the morning. Wychwood is definitely a great family festival and the music this year was outstanding ...I hope you can match it next year. Personally I would like to see more than 12 showers as the wait could be quite lengthy if you didn't get there by 7 am, and a shop on site for the essentials would be very handy. Was pleased that we could go straight into the Headphone disco after the Levellers, rather than having to queue for 30 minutes as it was quite cold by this time ...oh and OMD'S sound check early Saturday morning was a real treat Fab work Wychwood. The one thing I love about Wychwood is just how family friendly it is. The opportunity to allow the teenagers freedom to wander and explore on their own is lovely. This year was good but personally I found the music line up not to my taste. Such a shame the Sunday line ups are such great bands but with people who have a 2 hour journey and school the next it's just not a plausible thing to consider. Came on in he Saturday to see OMD... Who may I say we're bloody fantastic, had a very enjoyable day, great music, great atmosphere, great food and drink and some good stalls to wander around. .... my only bug bear was the amount of camping chairs, tents etc in the main stage area, it was like chairfest.... why do people assume if they stick a chair/tent in the middle of an area that then gives them that spot for the entire day whilst they bugger off and do as they please.... but apart from that yes I recommend that you come and enjoy the wychwood festival.....
