Absolutely beautiful setting and quirky through and through. Staff couldn't have been friendly and the afternoon tea was delicious, especially the scones and carrot cake!

Beautiful garden with wonderful sweet treats, lunch options and tea and coffee. Has recently changed back to the owners running the cafe so lots of new things on offer.

Well worth stopping in for refreshments if your passing by at the weekend.Wonderful setting in disused railway station. Garden an absolute delight in summer.

Such a tranquil little cafe on the old Hexham to allendake railway. Shirt local walks from there. Hit and cold food. Currently open every weekend. Highly recommended.

Off the beaten track but a lovely place to spend a couple of hours. Have a cup of tea, a slice of cake and a wander down the old rail track, now planted as a woodland garden.

Greenhead Hotel is beautifully located in a quiet little town, situated close to Hadrian's Wall, the archeological site of Vindolanda and a Roman Army Museum. Staff are friendly, prices are good and they serve the best piece of black pudding I have ever eaten. More...

Good food, choice of 2 real ales I drank both. Pool table and both hotel and budget hostel accommodation. Stay hostel for 3 nights. It can be chilly in the hostel it's an old Chapel with high cealings. I as part of a large group so hot water ran out as meny showers were being taken at once. Pub was cosy with a real fire. More...

Three of the meals were good but one had a lot of fatty meat in the steak and ale pie, not something you would want to eat. Reasonable selection of wine and nice ales. More...

If you’re looking to get away from the city, this is a place to stay. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The meals were great, especially the meats, perfectly cooked. The room was very comfortable. The Greenhead Hotel is nicely located to various historical sites including the Wall and the Roman Museum. Historical research places St. Patrick’s birthplace nearby. Pretty little church adjacent with a cemetery (if you’re into those things like I am). I’d stay here again if passing through the area. More...

Lovely old hotel in quiet village. Comfortable rooms with nice attention to detail. Good honest pub grub fairly priced. Only downside for me was no Wi-Fi in bedrooms and inadequate heating for the winter period.
