I honestly can’t recommend The Architects Design and JP enough. We had decided to extend our fairly ordinary 70s semi and had imagined a fairly standard extension to go with it.
JP came to see the house and really drilled down to what we wanted from the extension and what could be done to achieve that. He made us ask questions of our assumptions and framed his points so that we challenged them properly. What resulted was a design that, frankly, we would never have thought of but hit our brief perfectly. The crucial thing is JP was able to navigate the planning process with us, he made sure the designs went through the pre-planning process and the relevant changes were made in a way that satisfied the LA and our brief. That meant that when our planning was disputed and had to be defended at the council meeting he had done the prep work of making the changes that planning wanted and it sailed through with a unanimous decision.
JP has been working with us closely to make sure that we get the right engineer services and makes suggestions that again, we would never have thought of ourselves. Our house is sited on a quite marshy hillside and the experience of our neighbours through extensions made the idea of digging and pouring the foundations quite daunting and expensive. JP discussed with us a helical pile company as an alternative, this proved to be the exact solution we were looking for and we would never have found them or even considered it with JP.
If you are considering building anything I honestly cannot recommend The Architects Design highly enough. JP’s ability to take your ideas and hopes, combine them with his knowledge and vision produces something that you never dreamed of but as soon as you see it, realise you always wanted.

What do you love most about your job?
The most enjoyable part of my job is seeing my Clients' delight for a design that is far beyond what they thought could be achieved. We love it when our Clent's are as excited about their project as we are.

I believe that we offer a special, Client orientated design experience that investigates and develops design options that exceed out Client's expectations. Our use of advanced 3D computer modelling enables Client's to experience their projects before they are built and fine-tune the designs to their exact needs. Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
Yes, we can provide online video conferencing and collaboration tools to enable remote working, while maintaining the ability to discuss, markup and devlope design ideas collaboratively. We always like to visit a project in person though to see exactly what might be involved, but most of the design, detailing, and discussions can be carried out remotely.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
We have implemented remote video conferencing and collaboration tools to reduce the number of face-to-face meetings needed (such as, Zoom, Skype, Teams, Miro). We wear face masks during site visits and meetings, where a remote working option is not possible. In our office we regularly clean down surfaces and avoid multile clients being in the office at the same time.
Planning Applications
Compiling and submitting Planning Applications to the Local Authority, and liaising with the Plannig Officer as the application progresses.
Building Regulation Applications
Detailed technical design of building projects for Building Regulation Approval, tendering nd construction. We submit the Building Regulation Application on our behalf and liaise with the Building Control Officer to obtain 'Plans Approval'.
Full Architectural Service
We can provide a 'Full Architectural Service' from inception through to completion, working closely with consultants, local authorities, and builders to help realise your project. Alternatively, we ca also offer a partial service for discrete parts of your project,
Measured Building Surveys
We can carry out our own measured building surveys, or liaise with a specialist building surveyor for more complex projects.
Concept Design and Feasibility Studies
We work in a variety of ways to explore client objectives and create desing options. We enjoy working in 3D on the computer creating virtual 3D models of our schemes, which we ca share with clients via a online viewer. We also sketch, draw, make physical models to visualise ideas.
