When I moved to the UK and started my first office-based job, I was not confident enough about my written and spoken communication skills. I was terrified of picking up the phone to deal with a customer enquiry and it would take me an extremely long time to reply to even very basic emails. I felt like things were really getting to me and I feared I would lose my job if I couldn’t manage to sort things out, so I decided to search for a suitable English course that could help me overcome my fears and get the confidence I so desperately needed.

After shopping around and visiting a considerable amount of schools in the area, I decided to enrol with TEG Portsmouth (back then known as Portsmouth Language College). I was interviewed by the Principal and offered a suitable course to meet my needs at a very reasonable cost, and their flexible schedule allowed me to attend the lessons after work.

The staff were always extremely professional, hard-working, knowledgeable and friendly; they are all a very talented group of people, happy and willing to go the extra mile every time, always with a smile. Their facilities were warm and comfortable, fitted with the latest classroom equipment and in a fantastic location, plus all the techniques used for teaching were always fun, original and engaging so the whole experience was a truly fantastic learning journey.

I also made lovely friends and met really nice people during my time studying at PLC, partly because of having like-minded classmates who were in a similar position I was, but also due to the social schedule the school always put a lot of effort in offering to their students; there were always day trips, days out and evening gatherings on the agenda.

I will always have very fond memories of my time at Portsmouth Language College. After all the hard work put into learning and practicing what was imparted in the classroom, I managed to obtain my Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English – something I will always be extremely proud of. TEG Portsmouth is a very well-organized school with very friendly and helpful teachers.
I booked an intensive course (General English 25) for four weeks with a homestay and joined in an upper intermediate class while their mid-term of the course.
The lessons were good but not as that intensive as I expected or used from my country
They provide a very different but very entertaining and enjoyable learning system with lots of games and communications skills which are in a long term for sure very effectively to learn a language.
Very motivating for those students who usually didn’t like to go to school before, because it’s great fun to take part in the class.
On my opinion the pace was a bit slow for my expectations because I had only four week time to improve my English.
My recommendation for future students at TEG is to participate the course for a longer term to take the most possible advantage from this course.
TEG organized me a very heartwarming host family in Southsea. They were so kind and welcoming to me. I had an unforgettable great time with them and I hope I will see them one day again.
