My 6year old did the snorkelling experience as an early birthday treat with a friend. Both lads enjoyed it and was a great experience for them. Dylan was nervous to start with (being in a tank with sharks is a tad scary!) but Jordan the dive instructor was amazing with him. She didn’t rush him and made his experience amazing whilst also concentrating on the other two lads in the tank at the same time. Only a small aquarium so not many tanks to look at. But there’s a lot of different fish to see. The staff are knowledgeable and there are talks and activities on all day. We visited on a Wednesday in December and it was only £5 entry with an extra £2 for coffee & cake. A bargain and a great way to fill a couple of hours. What am amazing day we had at the aquarium. We took my 7 year old for your snorkelling with baby sharks experience. I could not fault it, the staff clearly love their jobs & their enthusiasm was infectious. It started with a briefing to explain safety rules, what sharks they would be seeing & how to use the equipment. After that they were taken into the pool. The pool itself is relatively small which made it perfect for little ones. The taller children could stand while the smaller ones were perched on rocks. As the class sizes are small (just 3 children in our group) the instructor is in easy reach at all times and gave each of them a huge amount of attention.I think there are around 6 sharks in the pool, with the largest around 40cm long. The children all loved seeing them and watching the sharks swim between their legs to get to the food the instructor was giving them. It was finished off with a look at some shark teeth and a shark egg. We could see the baby moving inside!If you are thinking of giving it a try, just do it. Very much enjoyed our time at the aquarium today. Staff were lovely and attentive. lots to see and do and my 18month and 3 year old were kept entertained. It was the Wednesday coffee morning event where tickets were reduced to £7 Plus you got a free piece of cake and a drink. Cake was yummy, a proper sized piece also. Very impressed with the soft play altho it's abit too challenging in places for my two but that's not a criticism. We will most certainly be back to this lovely well presented place, especially at this time of year as we had the place to ourselves pretty much. I can imagine it gets very busy during summer season. My daughter did the snorkel ranger experience for her 6th birthday and although she was a bit worried at the beginning the divers did everything they could to make her feel comfortable so she could enjoy it. And my goodness did she!! Her and her friend came away loving sharks, wanting to help them and look after them and will so much more confidence too. Brilliant experience and then to get to enjoy the aquarium after...incredible. would recommend to all. Knowledge and first hand experiences go a long way in a little persons(and big persons) mind. Just got home after my dive experience, absolutely incredible! The 3 dive instructors were very friendly, approachable and reassuring throughout. Would honestly do it again in a heartbeat. I’ve also got to make a special mention for Jordan who instructed my daughter for her snorkelling. fantastic snorkeling ranger experience today. absolutely made my daughters birthday. the ranger Josh was brilliant with my worried daughter, let her hold his arm while exploring the tank so she got the best experience she could.
