I've been training at this gym for 2 years now. Fabio and Babs are highly skilled instructors and are extremely technical! They're always willing to help you out no matter what level you are. I've been training at Team Fabio Clemente for 2 months now and as a newbie to BJJ, or any form of martial art, I can't say enough about how welcoming & professional Fabio's program is. I had a friend introduce me to BJJ, but the gym he trained at was out of the way for me. For moral support, he joined me for my first training at Fabio's which was near my office, and after that training session my friend said, "This is definitely the place you want to learn". He couldn't have been more right. Fabio, Babs & Mike are all welcoming to beginners, extremely skilled/knowledgeable & they have amazing structure to their trainings. Each beginners session has a hand-full of non-white belts that support the class so you feel like you're getting personalized training. Without fail, I get a great workout while learning the fundamentals every time.

If you're a first timer, I'd recommend calling ahead and talking to either Zata or Vedha - Fabio's children. I was able to schedule a 30 minute intro with Zata before my first training & it helped me hit the ground running.

All in all, this gym is filled with good people and has a great vibe. I can only talk from my perspective as a beginner, but I'm looking forward to my growth in BJJ at Team Fabio Clemente. More...

When I first trained at Alliance, neither me or Fabio had a single grey hair and Babs was a blue belt.

It makes me proud to see them so committed to the art of BJJ and I thank them profoundly for sharing their gifts and creating such a great place to train and challenge ourselves to be the best we can be.

And most of all, to have my 7 year old son training now w Zata and Vedha. Doesn't get much better than that!

I travel all the way from Sweden to NYC to polish my Jiujitsu at this academy! I don't know any better way to explain the greatness of this dojo!

Over the past 2 years, I've visited many times as a drop in student. I'm always amazed how the basics, aren't basics - when taught here. I learn so much about my game via their instruction.

While I've only had classes under Fabio & Babs, EVERYONE here is helpful, friendly and cool. I just made plans to visit in another 3 weeks.

Update 9/5/2015. Still visiting when I'm in town. Having visited dozens of schools in my travels, no other highlights the flaws in my game like Fabio's. Their kindness is only matched by their tough rolls. Visit when you come to NYC. You'll want to come back. More...

I visit Fabio's (Jiu-jitsu For the People) about once a month when traveling to  NYC.  I can't say enough good things about their instruction, environment and people.  Team Fabio Clemente has the perfect balance of serious practitioners yet a welcoming atmosphere.  They teach and drill basics hard and THEN show the more advanced techniques.  Proof of this learning environment is in the quality of all of their students, and not just the upper belts.The hardest step you take will be through their front door.  After that, you'll be hooked!  OSS. Let me start off by saying I was a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu guy that jumped from academy to academy. I been to all of them in NYC/ Queens  and  also trained  in Australia and Greece. Hands down the best place to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in New York is at Fabio Clemente's. The atmosphere and the people are great. Its also a family owned academy where Fabio and his son and daughter also train and teach. The amount of black belts and the level is amazing and you never know who's going to walk through those doors at any given time. I won Gold in the New York open for the first time in my life and I was only there for 6 months at that time. This is my second home, everyone has a smile on their  face its a positive attitude academy. If you want to start Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or you want to get better at your game this is the place the level of teaching speaks for itself and you feel like you are  apart of a family from day one.
