What inspired you to start your own business?
A genuine belief that I could offer something more, inspired the launch on Synergy. Having spent many years working within and around digital agencies across the UK, I felt that great work output and great customer service could be combined.

There are so many reasons as to why WordPress supports more than 75 Million websites worldwide. This is not a figure that can be ignored… WordPress is a highly capable, highly fluid, highly scalable and extremely SEO friendly platform. It offers a wide range of design options and is supported by one of the largest communities on the web. At Synergy, we love WordPress for plenty of reasons but in particular we know that WordPress is a safe option. The back end panels and content management system are very easy to use; ensuring our partners have full control over their websites. Partners can choose from millions of themes and plugins to enhance their sites features and offering to their clients. The platform is by nature responsive to all mobile and tablet devices. And of course, WordPress SEO is superior to any other platform.
Magento is the best platform on the market for large online stores. It is a more complex platform compared to WordPress and capable of handling much higher traffic, product and sales loads. What is great about Magento is the dedication commitment from the Magento Team to produce a fantastic platform. Unlike WordPress, which was predominantly created by third parties, Magento is an inhouse platform, created and supported by an inhouse team. Shopify has really taken off over the past few years. It has become a serious contender as a leading open source eCommerce platform and can be considered amongst WordPress and Magento. The Client Avon is one of the World’s most recognised brands. The American “super retailer” operates Worldwide and is a house hold name in the selling of beauty, self-improvement and household products. Head quartered from New York, Avon became the second largest direct selling enterprise in the World, in 2016. The Requirement In 2010, Avon contacted us with some complex issues that required a solution through digital innovation. The issues were related to several Avon regions in South East Asia; particularly the Philippines. Despite Avon’s “household name” accolades in the USA and UK, they were finding brand awareness trickier in S.E. Asia. Avon Philippines required a significant boost across their entire brand; both in terms of their brand reach through Search Engine Optimisation and Social Media, as well as their endorsements. The Result Synergy got to work straight away. First, via a series of discovery phases, we created a high impact Public Relations and Search Engine Optimisation campaign which offered both a solution to short term publicity and long term rankings. Avon Philippines was quickly published in some of the countries most recognised magazines including Candy. Celebrity endorsements soon followed with Anne Curtis featuring products both in TV led advertisements and magazine. Synergy were also involved in the Global 2011 Avon Brochure – DOWNLOAD HERE Avon Philippines is now a high ranking site on Google and a highly recognised brand across the Philippines.
The Client HTC, who are head quartered from Taipai are a Taiwanese mobile phone manufacturer. A recognised brand now in the UK, HTC has been leading mobile innovation for 10 years and in 2016 made the jump into Virtual Reality with their head mounted HTC Vine. The Requirement HTC have been proud sponsors of UEFA for several years. In 2015, their collaborative advertisement partnership with UEFA grew, giving HTC the opportunity for broad coverage across UEFA’s Europa League and Champions League competitions. HTC required a new Mobile APP that offered users live data, stats, analytics and match feeds across both competitions. HTC also required a Facebook Photo APP and required delivery in less than one month. The Result A fantastic, Android APP was created which allowed the user to access everything and anything related to the UEFA competitions. User Experience was important and formed a significant part of the conceptualisation phase. Further to stats and data, the APP allowed HTC handset users to watch the 2015 Champions League Final, live through their mobile device.
The Client Passenger Clothing is the UK’s leading Surf Brand. A brand built around a wonderfully emotive story and deep connections with Escapism, Outdoor Lifestyles and of course, Surfing. Passenger is a reasonable new proposition in the UK however, with their diverse product range and stylish attire they are quickly becoming a recognised brand. The Requirement Despite Passenger Clothing generating a lot of hype about their product and brand, their presence and reach on Google was dwindling. Operating in a competitive space which includes the known brands of Animal and Billabong it was important for Passenger to be competing at the top level on Google. The brief was simple; top level rankings on Google under brand relevant key search terms. The Result A significant SEO Campaign was created and integrated into Passenger’s wider digital strategy. The Search Engine Optimisation campaign which we created was content heavy and included significant PR activity through several notable syndication networks. The campaign also included a deep Outreach Campaign which dramatically increased interest from influential bloggers and journalists. The result was top level rankings under key search term targets and significantly improved traffic generation. Organic traffic became the leading revenue generation model for the brand above Paid, Social and Direct.
The Client British Tours are a notable London based luxury tour operator. Conceived during the Second World War, the company has been prominent for more than 50 years. The Requirement British Tours required leadership with their social media strategy and ongoing search campaigns. They required a significant SEO boost, modifications to their Zend driven website and a public relations campaign. The Result Our SEO and Social Media specialists created a strategy to help British Tours improve their search engine presence and their social media reach and community size. Our teams completed significant coding improvements, usability assessments, crowd sourcing & outreach programs and paid advertisement campaigns. A key factor to the radically increased search engine rankings was our content led approach. We connected with influential journalists and bloggers across the UK, Europe and Asia and sponsored fantastic content for communities to engage with.
The Client Pisidia is an up and coming brand within the luxury apparel sector, in particular luxury hand bags. Pisidia are head quartered in Hong Kong with manufacturing predominantly coming out of China. Pisidia have a presence in Germany, USA, Australia and Malaysia and pride themselves on their eco-friendly products. All of Pisidia’s bags are made from 100% silicone. The Requirement Despite ever growing brand recognition, the Pisidia brand was divided. Retailers and distributers of the products had little direction in terms of a brand voice, global brand strategy or objectives. Products were being sold in many different countries but there was very little correlation in the marketing activities across these different regions. We were tasked with producing a marketing strategy to unify the teams across the different regions and create one central global brand and marketing strategy. The Result We created a Search, Social Media and Digital strategy for each of the regions including Germany, USA, South East Asia and Australia. These strategies were supported with a series of central brand objectives and guidelines, including regular updates and initiatives from the central team.
The Client In the world of luxury sofas, DesignerSofas.com is a name that most would be familiar with. With three stores across London and a celebrity level clientele which includes The Royal Family, the company is very well positioned within the “luxury” space. The Requirement Three great show rooms but one very outdated website. The brand needed a revamp, an overhaul and a much easier to use content management system for internal staff to manage the site with ease. The Result We decided to use WordPress as the core platform for the website. WordPress is a fantastic open source CMS for teams with little technical expertise to use. We designed a fluid website, image rich with a flat design and build the site using WordPress. Search was an important factor during the discovery phase, which was one of the reasons why we decided to use WordPress. WordPress SEO is far superior to any other open source CMS platform.
The Client Avangate is a highly recognised brand in the realm of enterprise software and is a global leader in the support of digital commerce for partners all over the world. The Requirement Despite having thousands of clients worldwide, Avangate suffered from an unhealthy online reputation with misguided branding and poor brand reach. As Avangate continued to experience global commercial success, it became ever more important for their presence online to reflect their reputation. We were tasked with creating and implementing high impact content led SEO strategy. The goal was re-align search engine results pages with up to date, factual and official web pages and content. The Result Within 6 months, the top 100 search engine results pages on Google transformed from 50% negative and off brand content to just 5% negative and off brand content. We completely revitalised the brand image online, ensuring current and potential customers found, up to date, relevant and on brand content.
Belle and June
The Client Belle and June is an online retailer based in the USA. They sell a wide range of high end, luxury goods within the home décor, furniture and jewellery space. Belle and June are also leading distributors of products by Sugar Boo Designs, Vietri, Pigeon and Poodle and Skyros. The Requirement Belle and June had been running SEO and PPC campaigns for several years but were struggling to leverage their customer acquisition. They required a complete revamp of their Paid advertisement and shopping campaigns, restructuring of their Magento driven website and a comprehensive organic search strategy. The Result Very quickly we saw increased traffic from paid advertisement and shopping campaigns, higher conversion and an immediate improved ROI. The website was more compliant and organic rankings started to improve quickly.
The Client Crump, Richmond and Shaw (CRSFW) are fine wine commodities traders based in London. The Requirement A fantastic and original business model but with no sophisticated software or web platform to allow the CRSFW team and customers to trade and purchase wine. We were contracted to build this software and web platform. The Result This project utilised a full range of skills from Synergy. We were tasked with creating a new, fresh and vibrant website that allowed users to search for, track and purchase wines from a live commodities platform. We also designed and developed a completely custom Fine Wine Commodities System which included some extremely complicated features. The system has been built to important hundreds of thousands of wines daily and compare prices, create statistics and produce a range of reports. The website and the commodities platform have all been custom developed in PHP using a Laravel Framework within our usual Agile environment.
WiMacTel are Canada’s fastest growing independent telecommunications company. Due to their rapid growth WiMacTel required a content led website to help promote the wide range of services they provide. WiMacTel also excel in several unique markets including Inmate Telecommunication Systems. This core business model was an important factor in our approach. The Requirement WiMacTel had an outdated branding and little recognised branding. They were in serious need of a revamp including a complete website redesign. The Result We decided to use WordPress as the platform to build the new website. WordPress provides the simplistic management suites the team required and fluid design options. We undertook a complete rebranding approach for WiMacTel including a new logo, graphic design and stationary. WiMacTel now have a solid web presence and platform to build their expansion around.
