We booked a two night stay at The Star and have had a wonderful experience. The welcome from Rachel and service throughout was spot on. The Star Inn has just stopped doing Sunday Lunch (Shane because we fancied one); which apparently is the result of falling trade over the last 12-18 months; which we were shocked to hear after having such wonderful food served to us. We were surprised not more locals were in eating as the prices are so reasonable and large portions; we didn’t leave hungry. The continental breakfast was a real change from the usual big breakfasts served at some b&b’s. All in all we could not fault the place. Thanks Rachel and Julien for making our visit so special. We will be back. More...

We have just returned from a 2 night break staying in suite 2 at The Star Inn......quite simply...WOW!! Suite 2 far exceeded bedrooms that we have stayed in at any Marriott or Hilton hotel. ||||Our room was spotlessly clean and very spacious with modern furnishings - a 2 bed sofa to lounge or sit and watch tv and plenty of tea/coffee/hot chocolate drinks. Even with an extra single bed at the opposite end of the bedroom for a third person/child, it was still so very spacious! ||||Breakfast was continental with a good choice of cereals, toast, crumpets, cheeses, jams, fresh fruit, yoghurts, pastries, continental meats, apple or orange juice and tea or cafetière of coffee. We also chose to have our evening meal in the bar area and again we were not disappointed. Tasty delicious food and reasonably priced too.||||The owners were on holiday but we received a really warm and friendly welcome from their staff. We quite simply couldn’t fault the staff, food or any of the facilities.||||We could definitely have stayed longer and we will most certainly return in the future. The Star Inn is a hidden gem that we cannot recommend highly enough! More...

Went today for Sunday dinner. Food was lovely just what we needed after a raining and horrible day. Food didn't take long and flowed well. The beef was probably the nicest I've ever had, not tough and chewy like other Sunday roasts I've had so very happy with that. My other half loves the selections of beers so is always happy with a pop in at the star Inn. Thank you again More...

The Star has produced a new menu which provides a great choice of good ‘home cooked’ food at excellent value. We ordered lamb shank served with dauphinois potatoes and fresh veg and homemade steak pie - wow, hot, well cooked and flavoursome. Coupled with great service has to be worth a visit. Four of us out for dinner at the Star Inn.||The place was busy with both diners and drinkers - inside and out. ||Lovely atmosphere. ||Our friends had not been before but could immediately see it was a welcoming place. ||Settled at our reserved table we were quickly attended to for pre-dinner drinks followed shortly by our order being taken. Plenty of choices to go at plus a couple of specials and a decent but not overpriced wine list.||My prawn cocktail was absolutely loaded with prawns and was fabulous - served with fresh brown bread and butter. Lovely. The ladies had pate - one mushroom and one liver - both commented on the flavours. Jon opted for a tasty bruschetta. ||Our mains were divided between roasted salmon on a bed of crushed new potatoes with a sweet pickle sauce and burgers for Jon and myself. ||Jon's comment on seeing the burger was 'omg'! The plate arrives with a stacked burger on top of which are three huge onion rings. The burger has a large slice of tomato and various relishes already inside and the meat is sweet and juicy. The accompaniments are a dish of petit-pois peas and a basket of chips. Fabulous. Washed down with a bottle of Malbec. ||Another great evening and meal at the Star.||Oh, and this evening the meals were prepared by Julien - the Landlord - the usual chef being on holiday. ||Well done the Star - and Julien! An amazing, cosy hotel. It has 2 single rooms and 3 suites. We stayed in the third suite that had a bunk bed, arm chairs, tea and coffee making facilities, en suite, two TV’s and separate master bedroom with double bed. Unfortunately, that room was above the kitchen that made a bit of noise, but it was pretty faint. The price also includes breakfast which I think was the best bit. There is cereal, toast with a selection of spreads, egg benedict, full English fry up, and more... More...

We decided to have a break from our regular daily and left the kids behind. We found The Star Inn online and have to say was not disappointed. From the moment we walked in, friendly and helpful. The Room (we had Suite 2) was amazing quality for a B&B; you don't often find little gems like this. The owners were away but the manager and staff handled everything so well. We decided to eat at the Pub the first night and rebooked for the following. Although the menu wasn't as extensive the second night (we were informed the Head Chef didn't work Sunday evenings) lots of choice. There was no Sunday lunch available as there was an open garden event in the village and the pub had decided to offer BBQ instead; fantastic day for it! All in all a superb choice and we will be back! Thanks to all for making our weekend so great. More...

We understood that the owners of the place were away on Holiday, but I have to say that the Manager was very knowledgable of the menu and was able to help us. ||||The food was all served hot and everything was very tasty. Homemade meat pie was really good. The wife had the belly pork which was food too. Service and staff were excellent. Unfortunately the ale was a bit on the turn.
