Shire roofing and roughcasting

Have had a terrible time with this company. Once they take your money, they are not interested in you. Paid them to roughcast my house, they left it in a terrible mess. When i eventually managed to get James, (who claimes to be he boss of Shire Roofing and Roughcasting ),to come out and view the mess that his employees left, He stated that " it wouldnt last a year, and needed completely removed, and redone" . Which he promised to do. Over the next few months he set several dates to come out and do the work, each time he didnt turn up or phone.
Shire Roofing and roughcasting, have continued to ignore every phone call, email and text. They give you a five year guarantee, dont be fooled, the only guarantee this gives you is that they will do everything in their power to avoid you. More...

My parents have had an absolutely dire time trying to work with this company. Firstly, they pay over a grand for an absolutely horrendous roughcasting job. Upon completion, they chased up Shire to voice their dissatisfaction. It took an very unreasonable amount of time to get through to the company. Shire eventually offered to come out and entirely redo the roughcasting, for no extra payment - just what my parents orginally paid.

This is where the issue future develops. I stayed at home one Friday a few weeks ago, as my parents were out but we believed Shire employees would be arriving at 10am to do the roughcoasting reworking. No one turned up. No texts, no phonecalls, no explanation.

My parents have been chasing them up for a good few weeks now - we have heard NOTHING from Shire. They're absolutely taking the mickey out of my stressed out parents. They're over a grand out, with a dire roughcasting job on the side of the house and the company that offered to help didn't turn up to the agreed appointment and has ignored all subsequent phonecalls and emails.

I'll be posting this review everywhere I can to warn others. Hopefully we are the exception and no one else gets caught up in hassle like this.

Update: They were meant to come today (29/09/18) but never turned up. My dad phoned 6 times, and they never answered. When my mum phoned from a different number they didn't, they picked up right recognise, they picked up right away. Shocking behaviour. More...

This is an update to my previous review written on the 31/07/18.
I have had three and a half months of lies and deceit from Shire Roofing and Roughcasting.
On the 15th June 2018, I had the misfortune of using this company to roughcast my house. It was left in a complete mess, cracks , huge bald areas with no stones, holes in the roughcast that you can fit your finger through. The side panels are curved and uneven. It took hours to clean my garden and neighbours garden as they had left such a state.
For the next month we continually called and sent text to William the roughcaster who completed the work, as well as contacting and emailing the office. Dates were set for the work to be completed, then William wouldn't turn up, phone calls, emails and text were continually being ignored .
I therefore left a couple of negative reviews on websight, and low and behold the next morning, my husband received a call from James, who claims to be the owner of Shire Roofing and Roughcasting . James claimed that he was unaware of the work that had been carried out at my house, as he had been on holiday and William had done the work "off the books", that he was very sorry and would fix the work as we were in receit of a five year guarantee from his company. James asked that if he fixed the work, could we remove any negative reviews. I agreed and actually felt sorry for him.
I now beleive that this was all a fabrication on his part, and he wanted the negative reviews removed as soon as possible as they had just updated their websight and added the company to other trade sights. We had phoned and emailed the office, even sent in photographs of the poor workmanship, how could he not have known ?
James came to our house to inspect the work and agreed that it was a mess, he said that all the roughcasting had to be removed and redone as it wouldn't last a year. Again he asked about the reviews, my husband said we would update them once work was complete. My husband then asked if he had sacked William, James said no, which i found strange as he had supposedly been using his materials and company to carry out work on the side. He did say he hasn't paid William for two weeks so that he could recuperate the money.
Both James and William are very plausable, they are very polite, apologetic and full of excuses. We have had exactly the same run around from James as we had from William. Numerous dates have been set for James to come out and complete the work, he doesn't turn up, call or text, and all our attempts to contact him are ignored. If one of his workers answer they never know where James is, more often than not they don't answer our calls, but if you call them on a number they do not recognise, it is answered right away. When we do eventually get in touch, another date is set for work to be carried out, sgdin James does not turn up and the whole rigmorall starts again. My husband asked for our money back (£1130) to be told he didn't have the money, although he had previously stated that he had recuperate it from William.
The last straw came on Saturday the 29th September, when yet again James was a no-show at our house. After numerous calls the phone was eventually answered by one of the workmen, who apparently didn't know where James was and thought he was at our house. My husband could hear James in the background telling him what to say.

We now realise that they never intended to carry out the repairs or honour the five year guarantee they gave us. I think they hoped we would just go away,. They have left us with no option but to start court proceedings. More...

Had this company do some work very shabby need it complete did not turn up I am so upset a load of money for nothing get your act together advise not to hire these people

We recently had the front of our house roughcasted by shire roofing and roughcasting, and the boys made a first class job. They was brilliant at keeping us updated throughout the job and did there best to keep everything tidy ,have no complaints about these guys. would recommend this company to anybody. More...
