Had them come out to inspect roof. They said it probably had another 5 years left, but I decided to replace anyway. They did a great job and place tarps covering the house to prevent damage. I'd definitely use them again.

I recently had the roof on my townhome replaced and gutter covers installed. The workmen, salespeople and office staff were pleasant, efficient and did a wonderful job. The workmen arrived promptly when they said they would be there. The onsite manager came by during the process to ensure that things were going according to plan and to answer any remaining questions that I had about the installation. The quality of the work done was top notch in my opinion. In addition, the crew did an excellent job cleaning up everything afterwards and to ensure that no debris or nails were left behind. Mark Francis has been so incredibly helpful to us in determining where a leak was coming from our attic.  As many times as I said it was the gutters, the soffits etc. Mark just worked with me.  Long story short it was not Shiners problem at all it was my HVAC installers who left a pipe to no where and the condensation just dripped into the eves.  Mark has been so helpful and patient with me.  Our roof is only about 6-7 years old and we like it very much.  We switched from cedar planks and have had no issues. I called Shiner roofing because they were so highly recommended by my Great Falls, McLean area neighbors on next door.  They came out promptly and when I called to forward with the repair project they ordered my materials and shortly thereafter came to do the repairs.  The shingles match perfectly, there was absolutely no mess, and they worked quickly and professionally.  I recommend them if you need a roof or roof repairs. I recently needed roof repairs after a falling tree damaged my roof. I called Shiner Roofing, and they responded immediately to my very first call. Ryan Turner came by to estimate the damage and work to be done, and was a pro, in every respect. Very knowledgeable, and even did some quick minor repairs while he was examining my roof. At every step in the process, from my initial call, to final repair, their communication was excellent. Now, after several torrential rains, no leaks! We had shiner install a new sliding glass door. They took out the terrible old wooden one that barely moved and replaced it with the brand new one. They were timely, cleaned up after themselves, and had a very good service. It is also good to deal with a company that doesnt require 100% payment up front and then after they have your money they perform sketchy work. Not the case with shiner at all. Shiner put a new roof on our home 20 years ago and it's still in good shape. Unfortunately, the last storm slightly damaged a portion of the roof. If there is one thing I would do differently when buying another house is to buy one without dormers. Our house has five. A previous roofing company incorrectly installed the flashing around the dormers incorrectly, which began leaking after seven years . That company could not find the leak and I called Shiner based on the recommendation of a family member. Shiner replaced the flashing and redid the shingles around the dormers. With all the rain and wind we had lately, the siding on the dormers came loose. As Shiner is my go to roofer, I called them and they completed the repairs to my satisfaction. The staff was courteous and since it was a small job, timing wasn't critical (no leaks). The crew was courteous and cleaned up the job site well. More...

Shiner Roofing repaired our roof in 2017 after a storm as well as replaced the siding on our garage in 2019.  We found their administrative, sales, and roofing teams to be friendly and professional.  The quality of their work is a 5; unfortunately with the siding there were a few drops in communication with both the siding material and scheduling.  However, all teams worked hard to correct the issue and the onsite team went above and beyond ensuring we received the best service.  We wouldn't hesitate to hire Shiner again. We have used Shiner Roofing for 25+ years on both of our Alexandria homes to include replacing roofs, windows, gutters and decks. They have proven to be everything a service company should be... professional, efficient, reasonable and most importantly - trustworthy ... a company that respects its customers and places their interests first.   Every employee has proven to be exceptionally professional, responsive, polite and knowledgeable.   Whenever we've had an issue they've showed up on time, were quick to diagnosis the problem, explain the fix in layman's term and provide a fair estimate. Only once over all the years was a project not completed as anticipated, and when brought to the attention of the owner (Kevin) it was immediately rectified ... reaffirming our long-standing trust in them as being a company that operates with integrityIt is obvious that the Kevin has instilled an easily recognizable "esprit de corps" within his employees since they approach their work not so much as a job...  but more as a profession... a refreshing change from the norm which makes a huge difference in the end result/product. I'm not sure what to think. We called Shiner to take a look at our roof as there was a leak in the first floor below a bathroom. We have already ruled out a plumbing leak. The leak is small and only happened twice in over a year. My wife was home when Shiner came and told them the situation and she made a suggestion that it might be the entrance roof (close to the stain on the ceiling) or the bathroom vent pipe as the stain was under a bathroom. It turned out that Shiner sent a salesperson, not a technician to our home. The salesperson told my wife that the entrance roof may need to be replaced, then checked the entrance roof, but not the vent pipe. My wife was told that she would receive an email, but we never received one. Shiner had come on Thursday. On Saturday, someone left an estimate at our door for $1,900 to replace the entrance roof.We are not sure if this will resolve the problem because the rest of the roof was not checked by a technician, especially the area where the vent pipe is which we suggested.We do not want to pay $1900 to replace the entrance roof if this is not the problem. We would have liked to have a technician come and assure us that it is the problem, and also check the entire roof to rule out other things like the vent pipe.Anyway, we have heard good things about this company, but we didn't expect to have a salesperson come to diagnose the problem. Our roof is old, but has not caused any problems (except this) so far. We know we may need to replace our roof within a year or two. If we had stronger confidence that our problem was being thoroughly addressed, we would certainly put Shiner at the top of our list when the time came to replace the roof. This experience could have been better.Revised: I feel better about things after the manager called me and clarified things. He also came and re-inspected the roof, explained options and gave assurance that our problem was diagnosed correctly, and explained why. After receiving more explanations, I believe this is a good company because they are open to communication with customers. We are trying to decide what we are going to do given some new options. It is easier to put trust in a company when they are open to discussion, giving the customer options and communicating. If this communication continues through our decision process, we will certainly feel good about giving Shiners our business. More...

The quality of work was a 5, no doubt.  Amazing craftsmanship.   The reason I didn't give them a 5 was we had a few hiccups.  However, Kevin Shiner Personally contacted me to take care of the issues and ensure that I was satisfied with the work.  Things go wrong sometimes, and it is how you respond to them that makes a difference and he responded as a true professional.  I am not sure, but I think that some of the installers may be contractors based on my interaction with Shiner and the installers.  If that is true, then Shiner provides a level of security and confidence that when something goes wrong, he will own the problem.  We almost went with a private contractor and the thought of dealing one on one with a contractor for the issues we had would have been a nightmare.  I wish I could have given him a 5.... so maybe my review is like a 4.5. Recently had our 25-year old rood replaced by Shiner Roofing. Company representatives were all very kind and courteous. Workers cleaned up very well after installation. Noticed that flashing seemed to be bubbled so contacted Shiner Field Manager came out to inspect and had flashing redone but with same result. Worker explained that bubbling was due to mortar lines but would not affect the integrity of the flashing. Still very new installation so hopefully no issues will arise but we are happy with our decision to hire Shiner Roofing. More...
