What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Light. It's always been about light but the real secret to taking a great photograph is the same across all the creative industries. Experience. You want the snapper at the launch or the studio pro that's able to take your creative vision for your product or service and bring it to life. You want them to take your vision and share it with your audience in a way that makes them sit up and pay attention.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Who's the audience? You are planning a shoot be it film or photo, who is it for? If you don't know who your audience is, how can you craft the message and content to target them properly.
Whats the goal? Are we looking for pretty pictures that promote general brand awareness, is our goal to drive traffic, should the film deliver direct response or is it more passive? You can only measure the success of a program once you've established by which metric you will measure its success.
What do you love most about your job?
Watching the final cut of a project surrounded by clients and the production team in a viewing gallery. To see the work of a team of people immortalised on screen is a fulfilling feeling that makes the early starts and late nights worthwhile.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I spotted a giant, flapping, gap in the market. Like everyone I hope....
