Scary (read: Intense) going in, but you'll feel amazing!I felt exhausted just watching a class on my very first day. The workouts looked intense and terrifying. Now 2 months into my membership and I still feel a bit 'scared' but show up anyway. Everyone is so positive, motivating and encouraging - students and coaches alike.No matter your level you will be pushed to the edge of your comfort zone. Joining SC CrossFit 165 has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. The coaching staff goes above and beyond to teach, motivate and help you reach any goals you set for yourself. Their knowledge and dedication to the members is second to none. Everyday is a new and exciting challenge, the environment is fun yet competitive at the same time. I went from the worst shape to the best shape of my life thanks to Charlie Cassara and the other trainers. They provided the workouts and nutritional guidance I needed to accomplish my goals. I'm now down 38 lbs and have packed on some muscle. They have also changed my way of thinking regarding health and fitness. It's not about "dieting" , it's about making lifelong changes in your eating and workout habits. The weight loss and tight body that comes with it is just a welcomed side effect. On top of it all, I've made so many new friends and met so many awesome people here. The camaraderie and fun atmosphere keeps you looking forward to coming back each and every day. 10/16-Update-I just wanted to echo my continued excitement as a member at SC Crossfit 165. I've been there since January and in that time have improved significantly, and am now taking advantage of the Gymnastics and OLY (Olympic Weight Lifting) classes. I've seen an improvement essentially overnight in my gymnastics movements and look forward to continued #gainz in my lifting.

Thank you Crossfit 165 and Coach Charlie! Devyn is so happy to be starting her third month with Crossfit Kids. She is only 9 but thanks to Crossfit Kids she is having fun while building muscle and staying fit. She just competed in the Ocean to Sound Relay, running a 5.8 mile leg. She was amazing. We run on our own combined with Crossfit Kids. Coach Charlie provides great workouts that keep kids healthy and getting stronger than they ever imagined! More...

I exercised at home for several years before joining Crossfit and gradually became tired of doing the same repetitive workouts. Bored and unmotivated, I decided to give Crossfit a try and I can honestly say that it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Every day at Crossfit 165 is different; the workouts are constantly varied to keep things fresh and interesting, so no two days are ever the same. Additionally, all of the coaches are awesome, inspirational, and knowledgeable. They are always encouraging everyone to push themselves further and become the best person they can be, and they are always available to answer whatever questions and concerns anyone might have. Any workout or movement can be scaled or modified depending on one’s abilities so it really is for everyone. Over the past 8 months I have definitely noticed an improvement in my strength, stamina, and overall fitness and I couldn’t be more grateful. What’s even better is that there is only more improvement to come! On the surface Crossfit may seem intimidating (I myself thought the same thing in the beginning) but I encourage everyone to give it a try, especially at CF 165. More...

I'm In the neighborhood for a few weeks helping to take care of my mom who is ill and I needed a box to go to and just happened to drive by.  You won't find any supplements or protein shakes or T-shirt displays. Charlie and his crew are exactly what the sign says "CrossFit". The programming is excellent and it shows by its members abilities. Everyone here is extremely friendly and welcoming, you won't find any gimmicks here... This is straight up CrossFit, what it's supposed to be. Thanks SC Crossfit 165 ! More...

Shortly after my daughter's first birthday, I realized that fat, old, and out of shape was not going to work for me. Inspired by numerous CrossFit documentaries on Netflix and an attractive Groupon offer, I joined SC CrossFit 165. I quickly fell in love with everything about the gym: the world-class coaches, the friendly and inviting community, the clean facility, and of course the best workout I have ever had in my life. Since i wrestled in high school, which is over two decades ago, I was familiar with a high intensity workout; although, nothing prepared me for the journey I would take over the next month. Luckily, everyone begins with the CrossFit fundamentals classes; I think I took six or seven of those classes. The coaches helped me lay the foundation for the workouts of the day. Another aspect that I love is that the workout scales to everyone's ability level. I never feel that I can't do a workout because I am not at the same performance level as other members. While I have been a member for six weeks, my life has changed; I still have a lot of work to do to become fit, but I already feel better and get more out of my day.Thank you, Charlie and everyone else at SC CrossFit 165! The best part of Cross fit is Team work. Coaches shuffle workout plan each day that rejuvenate the mind and nerves. After 12 sessions I feel more energetic than before. I am now in my 6th week at 165.  My concerns with Crossfit have always been getting injured and dealing with the misconceptions of the "Crossfit culture".  All that went away in the first week.  The coaches here are so attentive to each person at the gym.  They are constantly watching your form on all exercises and make sure you go at an appropriate pace.  More than once they've told me to use lower weight in order to work my way up in a safe way.  They are always showing people how to modify based on injury or just to work up to the exercise. There are all sorts of people here from young to older and not in shape at all to very in shape.  Everyone pushes and supports each other and there is absolutely no judging.  Bottom line is I've seen great results already(so has my wife!) and I would never push myself this hard on my own at a regular gym.  Give it a try, you won't be disappointed! Went for my first foundations class today. It was hot, I am out of shape and haven't been to gym in a long time. The trainer was awesomely motivational. Today I just completed my second full week of crossfit. I am really impressed with the level of instruction I have received to date. Initially you take a few classes to go over basic technique then you can take any class you like. I feel like i am progressing in both strength and stamina. I am not a kid (53 years old) and am still able to do the entire workout. There is a diverse age range of people taking the classes. Everyone is friendly and supportive. I started Crossfit 3 weeks ago.  I have noticed profound changes in my strength and the way my body looks.  I have always worked out but have not seen the results that I have achieved in this short period of time.  I am 53 and was intimidated initially with the workouts.
