If I could give no stars I would
Sam is plumber and I have used him on three occasions.
The first two were as five star approach as regards workmanship, communication and cost and I had no hesitation in recommending him to a friend who needed two bathrooms doing as well as a few other jobs,

On this last occasion it was a totally different story,

The job was to fit a new mains stopcock, replace two cistern flushing units, replace on outside tap and to fit a new towel rail in a bathroom to replace the existing one and to replace a radiator in the Utility room,

The job was booked in ten days in advance and when Sam arrived on the Thursday he looked over the jobs and did some calculation on his phone and said it would be over £500 but he could bring it down to £500,

I gave him the go ahead as I trusted him from the last two occasions and he went out to get the materials he required,

He actually started work about 10.45 and was complete by around 1600, He then asked his lad to go around and check the work while I paid him and he cleared up.

Once they left we had the job of cleaning everywhere he or his lad had been and later on it was noticed that three radiators had air locks and would not heat up and the new Towel Rail had a small leak.
The new radiator to the Utility Room has a small dent and a cover strip was also damaged
I informed Sam and he said he would be out on Saturday, he didn’t come and I phoned him to ask when he was coming and we agreed the Monday,
Monday came and so did Sam once I called him again.
Radiators bled and the valve tightened on the Towel Rail and he assured me that a new radiator would be replaced be him and he rang Victoria Plumbing, When he came off the phone he asked me to send photos of the damage to Victoria Plumbing and he would come back to swap over the Radiator as soon as it arrived

Since then a towel rail in the ensuite did not heat up and the Towel Rail in the bathroom still leaked. I bled the towel rail and tightened the pipework to the Towel Rail and no more leaks,

I have spoken to Victoria Plumbing since and no replacement radiator was ever ordered and Sam has blamed the damaged items as being damaged by them. This is not the case as I thoroughly checked both items on delivery and there was no damage,

I have since priced up his materials from his supplier and it doesn’t come to close to £100 so I was charged £400 for literally 5 hours work which was shoddy at best. My wife and I are both in our seventies and rely on our state pension so that amount of money is a lot to us

I have since informed my friend so he will not be doing her bathrooms.
