With this progression he has undertaken an industry standard BTEC Level 3 course in Construction and the Built Environment which covers all areas of the industry at a technical and management level. This course has been completed with the highest grades possible: 'Double Star Distinctions'. Following on from this, Simon is now undertaking a university level HNC course, which is at an even high level of academic education enabling his understanding of construction design principles to be developed further.
"What is the difference between a CAD Technician and an Architect?"
The above question is commonly asked and the obvious answer is the overall cost, with a CAD Technician being more suited for those on a small budget. The next question is usually "Will this affect the overall quality of the project?" and the answer is NO. Whilst an architect has spent a considerable amount of time at university learning their discipline, ultimately the quality of a project depends on the requirements of the client and their budget. Through good communication and design consultations at every stage, a construction project which delivers overall satisfaction can be achieved.
Our design process can be tailored to your individual needs, but typically will start with an initial consultation where design concepts can be explored, followed with an existing site measured survey. On return to the design office floor plans can be drafted, often with various options for the client to choose from. Once an approved layout has been chosen the elevations can then be drafted, with once again possible options for the client to approve. As you can see we consult our clients at every stage and offer more than one solution to their requirements where possible, with the overall aim being to achieve 100% satisfaction.
Most clients require our services for their Planning Application drawings, in which we have a good understanding of what is required and we can even act as your planning application agent. For our planning application services we offer clients' a fixed price agreement with payments only required once certain design stages have been reached.
