Clean, spacious and good value at £135 per night. Breakfast buffet was decent too where they will also cook up anything to order. There is also a cosy little bar for night cap once the kids are asleep. As an added bonus, the attractive receptionist called Tallia looked after our luggage when we checked out at noon to enable us to get a few more hours of pleasure out of Hastings and St. Leonard's, before getting the train back to London. On behalf on my father who recently visited the Victoria Hotel. May i suggest changing the advertising limited number of spaces, is a more reasonable offering of your service. David Robinson More...

The road between hotel & beach is very busy late into the night - traffic noise (hopefully the windows will also be sorted during the refurb). This is the most quirky old hotel you can stay in (if you can get over yourself) yes the rooms are old fashioned and the water takes ages to get hot for a shower. The decor is 1920s. Good traditional hotel. Beautiful building in a nice bit of town. As well as the sea at the front there is a great Park at the back.
Had lunch in the Piano Bar with my wife. The food is tasty, the prices are very reasonable, the view (of the sea front) is amazing and the staff are friendly. The decor is fantastic - like somewhere where a king or queen would have stayed. (Queen Victoria did stay here.) More...

A spur of the moment trip to take full advantage of a sunny day at the seaside in England! Our sea view suite on the second floor afforded us great views of the sea, if slightly restricted. The room was split level with a spiral staircase, lounge area downstairs with the bedroom and bathroom upstairs. If you got the angles right you could sit in bed and see the sea We took full advantage of the hotels lounge and restaurant on the first floor. Both have amazing views out over the beach and sea. The food was very good too both for dinner and for breakfast.Breakfast was a buffet arrangement with all the usual options but done really well. The hotel decor was a bit tired in places but perfectly acceptable and all very clean and tidy. The staff were a friendly bunch, maybe a little inexperienced but nothing was too much trouble. There is some parking on site but it will only accommodate half a dozen cars. Although clearly past its pomp, this place is great for the price. The room was spacious with seaviews and a nice bathroom but lacked a fridge. This takes you back in time... The decor is quaint and dated. It’s not a modern hotel, but does have lots of character.
One huge old hotel with many rooms.
Massive rooms with incredible views.
Very close to the beach and St Leonards is walkable. In St Leonards, personally I think this is the best you will get.
The rooms are great value for money. The hotel is dated, very dated, but I love it for it. I really do recommend this hotel. Sometimes the staff can be a little ‘Bail Faulty’ but hey, it’s all part of the character.

Lovely old Hotel with lovely staff. We had a great weekend there and will be coming back in the future please god :).
The big problem was, no bar!
Lovely old (Victorian type) building. Recently changed from Best Western.

Grate hotel lovely room more than happy. The only complaint I have is, I don't have anything to complain about. 5* Would happily stay again.
We enjoyed our stay in January at The Royal and were very pleased with our large room, plus the very efficient heating on tap. I booked a night away here for me and my partners birthday a couple of weeks ago and we loved it. The hotel is literally right on the beach. When you arrive you get the impression it will be a busy loud road but it was far from it. The views are amazing, the hotel inside is lovely, reception staff were very friendly upon arrival and leaving. Rooms were relatively nice, rooms match the price, couldn't complain. We had afternoon tea here which was nice and breakfast the next morning was a help yourself buffet which was nice too.
Shopping town is a walk down along the beach, about a mile - make sure you have comfortable shoes for walking!! The beach is so beautiful you could walk forever. The pier has recently been modernised and looks lovely too.
Highly recommend it here, and going to the cliff lifts. More...
We stayed only one night here unfortunately as the place is lovely. The interior is stunning, with 14ft ceilings, ornate wallpaper, period furnishings and artwork. Service was without a problem and our stay was pleasant. A lack of parking in the area and a dating exterior that does not do the establishment justice are the only balancing negatives I could conjure. We did not use the food or beverage services during our stay. More...

We enjoyed our stay. We had a sea view room, our only disappointment was that it needs a some TLC. I know it's an old hotel and they really have smartened up the outside but they need to do the same to the interior, but no complaints about the staff or the service.
I love this hotel. Friendly, well located and such a lovely ambience. Only negative comment is the hot water in rooms seems to trickle rather than run from the taps. So filling the bath takes forever. Otherwise, a fantastic hotel which we are very happy to visit again. More...
