WHY DO I DO THIS?
I grew up in 2 places at the same time. Half my childhood was spent in the beautiful countryside of Shropshire & the rest in the metropolis of Birmingham.
My parents launched, managed, and sold businesses throughout my life, and I was always helping out and seeing how things were done. Whether I was packing stock, moving furniture, speaking to suppliers, managing staff, or helping with advertising ideas. Much of my sense of business I learned from them. They helped me realise that achieving goals is based on hard work & determination. It will eventually pay off & you can always learn from the journey.
My mother and father always seemed to remember everyones names and took the time to learn about the people that they came into contact with. They taught me that great relationships made success possible for their partners, their clients & themselves.
Artistically gifted in their own right, my parents encouraged me to develop my creative talents. But, they always stressed the importance of maintaining an equitable balance between criticism and praise. I learned from them the steady and honest pathway to improving oneself.
As I grew up I was determined to make a living from a creative business and worked hard to develop the artistic talent I’d inherited and make relationships with people in need of my services. I studied illustration & graphic design at college, and went to university and developed skills in prose, poetry & scriptwriting. I also taught myself to play several instruments, write, perform & compose. I have won awards for art & music. After university I gained experience as a concept artist, a sales executive, trainer & account manager. I then went into business for myself and started a vintage clothes business whilst running an Illustration & Design service.
Having a background working first-hand in business and across several creative fields has afforded me a qualified understanding of design, illustration, film, web, music & marketing. I launched rossthomascreative to use everything I’ve been lucky enough to learn on my journey. I hope I can be part of yours.
