We just got back from a very relaxing stay at Rookery Manor. The spa had amazing facilities and the staff were incredibly helpful. We had a massage as well which was nice. The hotel was easy to find and well sign posted to main reception. Food was delicious and served quickly with both waiters being very helpful and friendly. The room was gorgeous we had a room over looking the beautiful gardens and the facilities in room was lovely. We would definitely come back again thank you! More...

Came here with my sister for the 3pm afternoon tea with prosecco.
Room we ate in was dark with little atmosphere. The prosecco was nice but it is a tiny glass. Sandwiches were tuna ( which I dont like) or ham - not a great choice.
Cake was lovely and scones were ok but the jam was rubbery in texture. There was no pot of tea which was very disappointing- this costs extra apparently.
I would not recommend it if I'm honest and would not be in a rush to go back.
For the record my sister felt exactly the same.

Amazing night stay lovely big room with a nice balcony, love the attention to detail in this hotel and the grounds are stunning! We also had a nice afternoon in the spa plenty of hot tubs so you don’t have to share with others. Highly recommend! More...

Room had no heating bath room did but had cracked tiles on steps up to bath!! A health hazard
Only hand towels but Bath towels only offered 4 sale.
Food @ event was alleged 2 include thing like Apple sauce etc but they never made it 2 the table even when I told waiter where they were!!!
Breakfast was cold a sign saying hot plates needs referred 2 trading standards as they were very cold, Water 4 tea had a coffee sign infront of it & was no where near 95C needed 2 make tea.
Oh yes nearly 4 got reception told os which way 2 go but doors wee locked when staff were asked they did open but asked us not 2 tell her boss!!!!!!
I could go on but I will only say never again & recommend every 1 gives this place a wide berth

Sign posting us deffo a problem and should be addressed ASAP considering another review has mentioned this.
The setting was lovely inside.
Several other visitors were having cream teas, like my family had ordered.
Tea and coffee were put on the table.
Lovely sandwiches, thick ham salad, tuna and egg.
Cakes were mini macaroons, carrot cake and coffee n walnut as well as lemon drizzle.
Scones x 2 each with plenty of jam and clotted cream.
We had extra pots if tea for refills.
Foil to take hone any cakes not eaten.
4* as we didn't get any prosecco, even though it was mentioned 3 times.
Would deffo go again.
Lovely staff.

We’ve just got back from a night at the Rookery and we had a great time. We stayed in the Manor House this time on the top floor with a balcony with a nice view over the gardens. Very relaxing. The spa facilities were excellent and the food was good. More...

Clean. Elegant. Friendly helpful staff. Was in what i thought was a wedding venue. It was hot outside and would have been lovely to have our food out there.Went for afternoon tea. Tea was brought immediately but only warm not hot. Food came a good while later and by then any tea left in the pot was cold. Good selection of sandwiches. Scones light and freshly baked with jam and cream. Clotted may I add. Cake selection lovely but not very exciting.
All in all a pleasant afternoon.

Following on from my Sister-in-law's review. Really disappointing afternoon tea. Only giving 2 stars because the cakes were delicious. The sandwiches on the other were that which I'd expect at a children's party and only 3 small triangles each. We were only given a small amount of jam and double cream (?!) not clotted with the scones. We were seated in a dark room which looked like it was the morning after a wedding which had not entirely been packed away. The toilets were dirty and covered in tissue.
It didn't seem busy? There were only 3 other tables being used in the room we were in.
I'm particularly disappointed as it was my suggestion to go to Rookery Manor based on the afternoon tea we had there a couple of years ago. Picture comparison in comments.

Myself and sister-in-laws took my Mother in law here for an afternoon tea. I have to say I was really disappointed.

Arrival - it was very poorly signposted as to where to go. There was a small sign for restaurant but then you parked and there was no sign of where to go. I went to what i thought was the spa reception to ask but apparently that was the main reception very odd!

Decor - Although the lighting in the ceiling was pretty it did feel a bit like something more suited for a wedding/nightclub not an afternoon tea. There was then a random table with 3 tiers in the middle with a giant wine glass on & a tray of empty glasses...it was very odd & we even joked about expecting someone to jump out of it like a surprise! Not quite the classy decor you expect at a manor, looked more like it hadn't been cleared away.

The afternoon tea - The sandwiches were tuna (euuugh), ham & cheese. Then there was a tiny maccaron each, a cube of lemon cake & carrot cake each (all yummy) and 2 warm scones each. We were given a small pot of jam/cream to go between 8 scones!!! When we asked for more it was no problem though which was definitely a plus.

There were 2 key things though which really disappointed me 1) no offer of a tea refill, I mean it would probably cost them pennies and would have gone a long way 2) & the most disappointing thing of all...NO clotted cream...thats right it was cheap whipped cream i can only assume with icing sugar in??? That to me is not what you put with a scone & i was so looking forward to it. So I'm giving a 2* in hope someone reads this and realises that clotted cream is the only acceptable cream to serve with a scone!

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. First impressions I thought it looked very picturesque even though it was raining it still looked Amazing. Very well maintained buildings and gardens, perfect for weddings. The spa area is lovely. The sauna was nice but the steam room wasn't working. One of the staff said it would work after sitting in there for a while but no luck which was a shame because the steam room is my favourite part of a spa. when we went for lunch via the spa we were sat down on an uncleared table and I had to remove the glasses from it myself and get my own cutlery. Hot tubs were great and the garden its in is very nice. My room number 27 was lovely, lovely patio doors that let a lot of light in. Bed comfy but got woken up at 5:30am as I could hear someone walking around in the room above me. It was really loud. I don't understand why.
Restaurant staff were really nice and welcoming and the food was delicious. Breakfast was nice too. The restaurant also looks very well decorated and had nice lights throughout. So for me the hot tubs, food and decor of bedroom and beautiful gardens will make me want to return again. If the Steam room had been working and the room was a bit more sound proof I would have given it 5 stars.
Thank you. Hopefully we will be back soon

I had my wedding at Rookery Manor. All staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

My bridal party spent the day before in the spa. Which was utterly relaxing and the treatments were expertly given again by really helpful staff, who helped me remove my necklace e and after treatment replace it. The hydro pool, outdoor jacuzzi, sauna were amazing. Unfortunately we didn’t know how to make the steam room steamy. Maybe some instructions would help outside the room would be an idea.

Chloe Locke was amazing. From start to finish in my wedding planning, Chloe answered any questions I had very quickly. From checking in Chloe came to say hello which was lovely to know before the wedding had even come that I had some one to talk to if I had any questions or needed anything. On the wedding day I was let down last minute by my photographer, both Chloe and Kim stopped their preparations to see if I was ok and if needed to help find a new photographer for the same day! The whole day went very smoothly thanks to Chloe, Kim and the team.

When you book your wedding at Rookery Manor your not just booking a Venue your also taking on a team who will fight your corner and make sure your day is as stress free as possible. Well done Chloe and Kim you were both Diamonds and definitely worth your weight in gold

Stayed at the Rookery Manor from Monday 14th -Wednesday 16th May. Great hotel, great staff, great(and reasonably priced) food in the restaurant(I had crayfish and smoked salmon to start then the sea bass, my partner had soup of the day then risotto), great room, great spa, great grounds.
Thank to all of the staff at Rookery Manor who made our stay so enjoyable.

Had a great day with my sister today. This spa is so clean. Immaculate resting rooms and changing rooms. Treatments were fantastic. Outdoor hot tubs on a day like today was amazing. Could use some more sun loungers but other then that no complaints. Sauna/steam room fab! Pool not huge but lovely all the same. Quit chill rooms were perfect! Couldn’t fault it and highly recommend it More...

Lovely hotel..steak was ok but too expensive for what it was, nice spa very clean...but the thing that really let this hotel down was the very loud road noise it kind of ruined sitting out on the balcony and hearing it,..can’t believe it wasn’t on any reviews as we read them before we came, if we would of known we never would of gone, such a shame as we don’t go away much...felt like we should have been made aware of this More...

Very unorganised.
My wife booked a spa session and afternoon tea, as a treat and some down time in our busy schedules.
Due to lack of staff we couldn’t have have our massage together, one at 2pm and the other at 4pm with an afternoon tea in between.
The time schedule was totally inappropriate so had to reschedule way in advance hence missing precious relaxation time.

Lovely room in the manor house..plenty of luxury toiletries. Tasty cookies are a nice touch with the tea making facilities.
Took full advantage of the spa..had a full body massage..I can't recommend it highly enough.
Shame about the obnoxious people in the room next to us who screamed and shouted until about 1am..the only thing to spoil our stay.

I haven’t even left this place and I’m already looking to come back! Candice, what a lovely lady you are, so welcoming and I didn’t feel like we were hassling you at all, with all my questions. Yes there is a busy road out side, but the noise comes as background noise. The gardens are beautiful and the room is exquisite. Thank you Rookery manor for making mine and my partners first anniversary one to remember already! More...

We booked Sunday lunch as a birthday treat for my mother and sadly it did not live up to expectations. We have been in the spa before and it was lovely so we thought Sunday lunch would be equally nice. On arrival we were unable to rouse any attention to get seated, we finally sat ourselves down at a half-laid table as ours had been given to another party. The supposed manager seemed uninterested in attending to us and studiously avoided coming to our table - despite a queue building at the understaffed bar, he went to fetch other staff rather than just serving us himself. After a quarter of an hour I manged to get someone to give us menus, in fact I can't fault the lady who served us today, the poor woman had to apologise on several occasions for things outside her control. The meal was mediocre, with undercooked veg and missing side dishes. We asked for dessert but sadly it never arrived so we left, which is a first for us. I know you had a private function on but, that being the case, you should have called me to say you couldn't cater for us and offered an alternative booking. The only upside was that the cavalcade of errors was perversely amusing and that we weren't charged for the food. Please review your bookings system to prevent this from happening again. More...
