The duet ensemble and jazz band were great. The DJ was good and got everyone dancing. Though:
-We mentioned we love Motown and he had some great selections.
However, some of the music didn't seem to fit the right moment of the night. I remember when the main course was being served when Super Freak started blasting on the stereos. Now Super Freak is a great song, but eating our dinner is not necessarily the right moment to play it.
-Also, he cut off our wedding dance song too early, which was really awkward, because we hadn't finished our dance (it was a routine).
We enjoyed working with Ron in the beginning and found his services great. He was very responsive and flexible in meeting dates and times.
However, after Ron's demeanor & professionalism during the venue walkthru & wedding day, I had to lower my rating. I understand that rain is an issue, however, you can't tell us in the beginning that you are flexible & willing to make things work for outdoor events only to threaten us that you'll pull the plug and charge us $30k in damages with only a 10% chance of rain in the forecast. Even my planner and a few of the other vendors came to me later and were shocked by his behavior and were alarmed by the way he was coming across to everyone. Ron even told my venue coordinator that I granted him the power for "final say" for all events. I had to tell him that this wedding involves a lot of vendors and people, therefore, decisions need to be jointly made between everyone.

What can I not say about Ron Harris and his team? They did an absolutely fantastic job playing music and even did some of the coordinating for the flow of our event.
We can't thank them enough for the great, fun music all throughout the day!
In the beginning of hiring Ron, he helped my husband and I and educated us on how our wedding flow should be and assured us that he can work with anything not going according to plan. And that he did! There was a lot of changes that happened on our wedding and Ron did a great job going through everything and adjusting everything when needed, that our guests didn't even notice. They played jazz, mo-town, and even practiced and performed with my husband during our first dance. My parents and brother are very particular, and they were simply mesmerized on how great they sounded. Absolutely fantastic job, and would highly recommend! I'll be posting an edited video on our Youtube channel in a couple of months so you can hear them play.

Ron spent the time to meet with us, get to know us and gather our input on what kind of wedding music we wanted and helped us develop our vision. He made suggestions but always deferred to our wants and needs. He and his group were extremely professional and did such a fantastic job that most of our guests went out of their way to tell us how much they enjoyed the music at ever point in the ceremony, cocktail hour, during dinner and during the post dinner dancing portion of the evening. It was really important to us that our guests enjoy themselves, so it could not have been more perfect. We had such a great experience using Ron Harris Music Group for our wedding musicians. We had a violinist and pianist for the ceremony and cocktail hour and they sounded amazing! (just them warming up brought me to tears for the first time that day- in a good way!!!!) Ron was extremely helpful in making music selections and very responsive to my questions leading up to the day. The musicians were very kind and introduced themselves to me briefly at the event but were very sufficient, which on your wedding day is very helpful! The Ron Harris Band was exceptional! The musicians were professional, courteous, and talented musicians. The band exceeded our expectations for my son's wedding.
We were faced with a challenging and unfortunate situation with dinner service, and they saved the night by stepping in, taking control, and providing our guests with fabulous music and entertainment to get through this part of the event. Our guests loved the music, and danced all evening. The dance floor was full through the last dance of the night.
Ron was great to work with, and responded quickly to our questions to provide a wonderful wedding celebration. Ron was a great pleasure to work with. He was super helpful in our planning of the flow of the event and he and his band executed to perfection. We had some troubles with the food coming out on time and Ron was able to rearrange the timing of the speeches in order to keep things moving. After dinner, the band got fired up and they were fantastic. He had just about everyone out on the dance floor. One of the best rhythm sections I've ever heard, hands down. We hired the Ron Harris for our September 2013 wedding and were happy we did! From the beginning Ron was very attentive to our questions and hopes for our big day. After spending several "prep" hours with us, I went into my wedding day fully confident he would execute the evening perfectly...and he did! The cool thing about Ron is he was also willing to MC the wedding, which I hear most Chicago bands don't do. After the wedding, we received quite a few compliments from family and friends that they really enjoyed the band. They played a great variety of music from 1960s classics to Lady Gaga - and sounded great doing it all! From my first conversation with Ron about my November 10, 2012 wedding, I felt confident that the music at our reception would be out of this world. He really broke down what our reception would be like and made some great suggestions to go along with the ideas we had. Ron made sure to go through and check all the details the week before. He even went through the names in our bridal party to make sure he knew how to pronounce them all. The band was just fabulous. Everyone - young and old - got out on the dance floor and had a blast. The music was magnetic, even people that were tired or didn't want to dance, crowded around the dance floor to hear the music. We have been married over a year and people still talk about how great the Ron Harris Music Group was at our wedding. Ron spent a lot of time before that day getting to know my husband and me as well as asking a lot of great questions about the type of music our guests would enjoy.
He was very responsive, tailored it to my special day and even offered tips when we were picking out our first dance song.
I would recommend Ron's group to anyone who is looking to add a band to their wedding. It was very personal, fun and our dance floor was filled from the time the music started playing until the end. We contracted with Ron Harris to provide a string trio for our wedding at the Rookery. Ron helped us tremendously to select the right music for our event and the "feeling" we were after, and the musicians did a great job executing on the song list.
On our request, the trio played mostly classical (baroque,waltzes) but a nice surprise was when one of the trio played our special song because she heard it mentioned during the ceremony - cool!
We had plenty of positive feedback from the guests on the music played during the prelude and cocktail hour as well, though we weren't around to hear those parts.
On the whole, Ron Harris and his musicians did a great job and I would recommend their services to anyone looking for a string trio or quartet. I believe Ron also provides other music services and have no doubt he'll do as good a job for those. Thank you, Ron and April!

What do you love most about your job?
We have such a great understanding of music and how it makes people feel. We take a lot of time pick out and design the best music selections for someones party and that it gives us a lot of pleasure to see the results of that during the event.

We are professional, full time musicians. When we're not performing, we're teaching up-coming musicians to be the best they can be.
