The first thing to check is headroom from finished floor height to the finished ceiling at the highest point, then the placement of your stairs as these come under tighter building regulations, also check if any neighbors will be overlooked when the windows are installed.

Create a suitable opening so access can be gained to load out materials, then you need a platform to work of so any structural beams to go in first followed by the new floor and then the new stairs.
