What do you love most about your job?
I am passionate about music and relish the wide variety of opportunities my work gives me to perform for many different kinds of events: corporate functions, weddings, parties, afternoon tea dances etc. Through my experience of touring huge international stadiums with stars such as Bryan Ferry, to performing in small local venues with jazz trios (with everything else in between), I have honed my craft and learned to adapt how and what I play to fit the requirements of each event. I take great pleasure in collaborating with the many people involved in putting together the events at which I work and I am scrupulous in ensuring that every detail is covered so that on the ‘day’, no-one has to worry about the music!
What inspired you to start your own business?
One of the most important things my own business affords me is the opportunity to provide a flexible and personally tailored service for any client who wants music to be part of the function they are organising. I take responsibility from enquiry to delivery. For me the job is not just about turning up and playing; I am often given a general picture of the kind of music required for a function and will collaborate with the client to ensure that on the day, they get exactly the music they want. Over many years running my own business, I have collected/ acquired/amassed a vast repertoire of tunes and songs to suit different tastes/ moods and events, and I also hold a portfolio of loyal, skilled, highly professional and committed musicians who work with and for me on any event for which I am responsible.
Why should our clients choose you?
With more than 40 years in the music business, I have access to vast numbers of musicians and, unless working as a solo musician, I can create a tailored combination to suit any type of event. Think… 40 years at 300+ gigs a year, that adds up to over 12,000 engagements, most of them probably a lot like like your prospective occasion! That's a lot of experience to call on. Furthermore, on dealing with so many clients over the years it's not for nothing that I have acquired an attitude of flexibility, reliability and good-natured bonhomie. Not that I didn't have that in the first place, of course, but it's pretty important when one is out in the public domain!
