I was sufficiently impressed with Nicola's work on a garden redesign that I contracted her to assist with a major house refurbish. Her eye for detail and imagery is matched by her focus on practicalities and layout - she knew far more about designing a workable kitchen than the kitchen suppliers did! She is never afraid to suggest bold ideas, and encouraged me to push the boat out with some of the wallpaper choices - we now have a 'wow' design for our smallest room that makes everyone smile. She can also manage the subcontractors, and gets the right results whatever the problem. I'd recommend her to anyone. More...

Nicola continually surprised with interesting, unexpected but appropriate suggestions for ways to make our renovations better. She managed the whole team very well and had a great grasp of all elements of our project so that she always had an answer to a query or a solution (or two) for any issue. Using an experienced interior designer really showed the benefit of working with a professional who is able to keep abreast of all new developments and trends within interior design, which may not always be so easy for an amateur DIY-er. Nicola is an extremely talented designer with exceptional attention to detail. There are innumerable touches in our home at the end of our building project which are entirely down to her eye for good design and what really works.

Q&As

My interior design process always starts with the client - talking to them to try and identify exactly what they are hoping for with their new interior. Then I create a mood board to capture this feeling and provide a grounding for the design. The rest of the design, in terms of colours, textures and shapes, follows this. The other element to interior design is about layouts, and here my engineering brain kicks in to produce a layout that really functions for my client's lifestyle.

I describe my style as eclectic contemporary. I love to introduce unexpected elements - pieces from a different time period or culture - into my designs as this keeps my interiors interesting.

I love the creativity that my job requires, combined with the practicality of getting it right. But more than this, I love the look of delight on my clients' faces when they see the finished project. Nothing beats that!

Starting my own business has meant that I can really stamp my own mark on this competitive industry. It also affords me great flexibility to be able to offer the client what they really want in terms of the level of service, etc.

Clients should choose me if they want an interior that not only has the 'wow' factor, but one that really functions too.
