Hired Mr Beats for a small family gathering. Evan was punctual and professional. As it was an indoor/outdoor location Evan flawlessly changed location of set up to suit our party needs. My wife and I hired Mr Beats to DJ at our wedding reception, held at 1539 at Chester Racecourse. We can’t speak highly enough of the professional service we received, prior, during and after the event. Evan met with us prior to the event, to get a feel for our music interests in order to put together a bespoke playlist that both we and our guests would enjoy. Evan spoke directly to the reception venue to ensure equipment provided by the venue was compatible with what he was going to provide to guarantee the best sound and lights display, this took a huge amount of stress away from organisation of the music and equipment. Evan absolutely smashed the 4 hour DJ set, read the crowd and our interests in music perfectly. Music included dance floor fillers, house and garage, drum and bass as we had requested. We also got a copy of the 4 hour set which has been lovely to listen to afterwards and reminisce what a great party we had with our family and friends. Evan was also very helpful in editing a song we specifically wanted for leaving the church and putting this into the correct format that the church had required. What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
As a DJ the secret is to be spontaneous and trust your judgement with regards to reading the crowd. It is important to have several ways to go within your performance, and not get too tied to a specific track order.
Experience also helps to prejudge what a crowd will like if they react well to a certain type of track.
How would you describe your ‘style’?
I would describe my style as adaptable and varied depending on the type of event and the style of music that the client expects. There is no point trying to be Carl Cox when playing a Soul Classics set as requested by a client.
My club experience as a DJ means that I am extremely good at beat matching, and have strong track knowledge of many genres of Club music. So when a clients tastes connect with that side of my skill set expect a very busy and lively dance floor.
What do you love most about your job?
Being a DJ for me is the dream job, firstly, I have a passion for all types of Music. Secondly, it allows me to play an important part of making an 'Event' memorable to not only the hosts, but also their guests.
There aren't many jobs where you have direct and live feedback telling you how well you or doing, or when you can see the positive impact of your work straight away.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Having had a long career in Financial services I can honestly say that I was never able to find a job that clicked with me as a person. Starting my own Mobile DJ business allows me to have full control of my professional life as well as work in something that I am passionate about.
