A lovely place to stop for lunch.
The service was superb; attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The selection of bitter and lager was very wide and there would be one for everyone.
The food was delicious however for me there was a limited vegetarian choice which would stop me going back. If you were not a vegetarian then the menu was varied.

The Royal Hotel is a really lovely hotel and dining venue. The staff are all extremely helpful and welcoming, the food is always freshly prepared and there is a fantastic selection available. The rooms are all beautifully decorated and each is unique. We can't recommend the hotel highly enough and can't wait to go back. More...

Wow what a wonderful night we had New Years Eve at The Royal in Kirkby Lonsdale. Delightful room, amazing staff that go the extra mile and fab food and entertainment. We loved it. A big thank you to Damien and Jo who are both brilliant at looking after their customers. More...

Had a lovely, relaxed lunch at The Royal Hotel in the bar. We had the whitebait and pork belly scampi to start. The whitebait was a generous portion served in a giant coffee cup. Often dry and disappointing, this really hit the spot having plenty of taste and being unusually fleshy, simply delicious. Served with a little pot of tartare sauce, only a wedge of lemon could made it better. The pork belly scampi was breadcrumbed and deep fried pieces which were very tasty too and served with a Thai sweet chilli sauce for dipping which was nice, though i think some sauce could have lifted it higher still. My main of a club sandwich was very filling and extremely tasty. Another in our party had a poached pear with roquefort which looked a little empty on the plate but was in fact filling and full of flavour. The third person in our group had Xmas dinner which was just as it should be (that being most tasty turkey, not the usual dry kind!). This was my second trip to The Royal, I'm certainly looking forward to my next! More...

Recently stayed at the Royal for a single night half board stay. The weather was extremely cold & we had Room 1 which had two external walls. When we arrived the room was very cold but the staff quickly arranged for two electric heaters to be brought up which solved the problem. Lovely place to visit and the staff were friendly and efficient making it a very relaxing stay. Food choice was varied & quality was excellent. Would definitely recommend. More...

The last time I visited Kirby Lonsdale the Royal Hotel was boarded up and derilict. Visiting again it was great to see that had been developed and was functioning once again as a hotel.
The Royal has had a lot of money invested in it and I really enjoyed my visit. There's a great selection of craft beers and a good wine list.
The menu selection was good and I can highly recommend the Sunday lunch - my roast beef was cooked to perfection thank you chef.
The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive - not intrusive.
It's great to see this building is back in commission and playing it's part contributing to and putting something back into its community.

Was nice place. Did not stay. Big group of us had afternoon tea and was good. It is probably a up market bar that's often busy.
I feel it is not a place to go out as a couple for a we quite meal. Unless there is a separate dining room, but I would say you be happy if you did go there it is classy.
