Having not played a guitar for decades, Mike soon got me back on the road to helping me understanding the nuts and bolts of music. Also he has a wealth of his own supporting charts, backing tracks and scores which he is happy to share with you, which you can use to work through at home. He has a relaxed style and his talent is such that he can be very flexible in taking you where you want to go through lessons which I certainly found to be good value and a great help to me.

Having made a decision to pick up the guitar again after many years, I tried learning by myself from following tuition books and countless youtube videos. After a while I really felt 'stuck' and did not know what to practice and how to practice.
I needed a 'real' teacher who could set me up with a person-centered plan of learning.
Mike was the first tutor I called, and I knew after the first lesson that I had definitely chosen the right person.
Mike has everything you could ask for from a teacher; lots of patience, a very friendly and calm character, who makes you feel welcome and comfortable with every lesson. Mike is also very intuitive, and will pay close attention to what you what to get out of your learning, and guides you through a progressive learning structure (the added on-line personal support is priceless - you can down load and print out his tuition resources).

I started having lessons with Mike a couple of years ago, after having lost my way with the guitar and not really getting very much enjoyment from it. My playing was stale, and I wasn't developing the way I wanted.

Mikes teaching is a revelation. He focuses on what I want to learn, and lessons are always enjoyable. I have progressed so much this last to years, people regularly comment on how much better and how much they enjoy my playing.

I chose Mike on the basis that as an active musician he must practice what he preaches and what a great decision it was!
Despite being musically challenged, Ive learnt some of my favourite rock and blues tracks and every aspect of my playing has improved. Over a year after I started, I enjoy both the lessons and practicing at home more than ever so I would recommend him to anybody. More...

I had Mike as a guitar tutor for several months I believe in 2010 and I must say he was very helpful, I was already at a good level in my playing but he helped me to see things clearer and saw some fatal flaws in my playing and went about with ways to improve them, the first lesson saw us discussing where I wanted to go with my playing and what kind of practice routines would be physically possible. I am now studying my Degree in Music at the University of Surrey and still use tips and techniques that Mike showed me over a year ago. Not only is Mike a good player and very helpful and clear explaining tutor he is always a very nice guy! If you have any problems at all regarding tuition then giving him a call will get it sorted out straight away. As an aspiring guitarist I definitely recommend Mike Bollard! ~ Andrew More...
