Came here as this was the nearest restaurant where we could use the Red Letter Day voucher we’d been given as a wedding present, and we were very pleasantly surprised. We dined in a charming oak-panelled room, and staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Food was pretty good. We had prawn cocktail (safe, but very nice) and smoked haddock pappardelle (OK) to start, both had duo of beef as a main (really very good, just the jus was served a little on the lukewarm side)and sticky toffee pudding (very good) and chocolate tart (thought it was meant to be ganache - very rich but good) and raspberry sorbet (good).||All in all was a great evening. I had my wedding at Mere Court Hotel and I was not disappointed. They accommodated all of our requests, nothing was too much. My friend and I came here for afternoon tea as a treat after having a massage in the Treatment Room with Nat. The Treatment room is on the grounds of Mere Court and is just amazing, the attention to detail there and service she provides is highly recommended. We loved it! ||Anyway, back to the afternoon tea....||Mere Court hotel is a traditional and quaint hotel set in beautiful grounds. The interior is warm, inviting and full of character. We arrived half an hour earlier than we had booked our afternoon tea but were immediately shown to a table. ||There is a bar there so you could just go and have a drink if you so wished. ||The afternoon tea had been adapted as my friend and I are vegetarian. There were cucumber, egg and cheese sandwiches, cream scones, tiffin, macaroons and coffee cake accompanied by a cafetière of coffee and tea pot of tea. ||We stayed in there for a couple of hours, chatting and the atmosphere was lovely including the Christmas decorations and music. ||Our waiter was delightful and all in all it was a lovely experience. ||The offer of afternoon tea is currently on a Groupon offer, we booked before this, so if you can, get one! The hotel is situated in beautiful grounds, away from the main road so you aren't disturbed by the traffic. When me and my sister arrived there was a wedding in progress, and they use the same entrance as none wedding guests, which isn't an issue providing you don't mind gate crashing the entrance to a wedding. |Once inside the afternoon tea is served away from the wedding party in a cozy little lounge which had a Downtown Abbey feel to it and made to feel even more warming with the lovely Christmas decorations they had up. The lounge|overlooked the lake and garden, I'm sure|in summer would be beautiful to sit out in|for afternoon tea.|We were quickly seated by polite and friendly staff, offered tea or coffee which we didn't have to wait long for and was soon followed by a selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes. The food is were it loses a point, and why I gave the visit 4 out of 5. Although it was nice, it didn't have the same quality you would expect from a rosette star restaurant, it was quite basic in appearance and taste and the scones were over baked, I have been to lesser star afternoon teas that were much better with presentation and choice of sandwiches and cakes. |That said we were not rushed to finish, and enjoyed a few hours chatting in a relaxed environment. Hotel choice is highly subjective and as a business traveller this hotel is distinctive, offering a very different feel to the similarly priced chains. My room was large and had everything I needed. As other have commented, the switch / appliance ratio was a little out of kilter. Nice to have full size bath, but disappointed that the jets did not work - and the ceiling repair directly above was a bit meringue. Staff, service and location all excellent. Good nights sleep in a very big bed. I say; look past the easy to see nit-picking shortcomings because its actually good value and way nicer than a bland box near a big road. And yes, arriving at night can be a tad tricky - as the entrance appears quickly on the main road and the car park is a bit dark. More...

Lyndsey & Megan were absolute amazing when we had our wedding here on 7th September 2019. From the minute we booked the venue nothing was too much trouble - Lyndsey was always at the end of the phone / email. I really cannot put into words how incredible our wedding day was and this was down to the staff at Mere court. On the day everything was swiftly turned around without the guests realising and the venue was dressed beautifully. We did not have to think about a single thing because Megan and Lyndsey were already 2 steps ahead. The food was perfect and the accommodation was clean and ready for us. As weddings go - Mere court is also very reasonably priced and you get a lot for your money. Anyone torn between venues I would highly recommend choosing Mere court! Thank you so much More...

I stayed here for one night as a solo female on business. The hotel staff were warm, welcoming and friendly My room was large and spacious and the bathroom was lovely. The bed was comfortably, there was tea and coffee facility's in the room. It was about 20 minutes from Manchester airport, so handy as an option for the overpriced airport hotels. I went on Sunday with a group of friends for afternoon tea. The selection was really good and the cakes were stunning. They also did a great selection for lactose intolerance. The service was excellent and we weren't rushed to finish as we had been there over 3 hours catching up ! I then encountered an issue after I had left the hotel and the staff, from the managers to reception to chefs and waiting staff could not have done more to help me, for over an hour to resolve my issue. For £130 you get a night's stay 1 weeks parking and a free transfer too and from the airport 24hours a day. So value for money is excellent and was actually pretty seamless from start to finish. Excellent taxi firm (passenger) both extremely professional and helpful. All in all I would highly recommend this option when flying from Manchester its also an extra night of holiday so its a winner. The grounds are beautiful at this hotel and the rooms are huge with good amenities also in areas they are a little tired and need some TLC. Also food and drinks extremely expensive for what they are I recommend the Kilton Arms for good pub Grub. All in all a good experience. More...

What can I say stayed only for a few hours before we had to leave for our flight so didn’t see much of grounds as was pouring of rain also, what we can say is the staff were wonderful warm and friendly, we had the cream tea which was lovely. |On returning to pick up our car went to have a coffee before our journey home, however there was a wedding reception due, we asked if ok for a quick coffee as we didn’t want to be in the way but was assured no problem whatsoever|Again thank you for your hospitality and we will definitely stay with you again when flying from Manchester |Added bonus was the limo service to and from the hotel excellent service all round.| More...

We booked this venue as our 15th Wedding anniversary treat, very last minute - booking the day before.||We booked due to the look of the romantic setting and that dinner & breakfast were included. ||It was very easy to find, not far from the motorway, signage was easily seen from the road. Parking is ample and a very short walk from the front door.||On arrival, staff were friendly and professional.|We had a drink in the bar area, which was quiet, but exactly what we were after.||For our evening meal, we sat in a small restaurant and for a while we were the only ones in there, which again, is exactly what we wanted. The food was lovely, good quality and very tasty. Very good value for money, with plenty of choice.|We were presented with an unexpected anniversary wish with our desserts, which was just lovely.||Our room was just perfect. A four poster which set the evening perfectly.|Everything was just as we expected, clean, airy and romantic.||Staff were great and breakfast was lovely, everything you’d expect at a buffet breakfast.||We would recommend this hotel and will definitely keep it in mind for the park and ride in future for holidays abroad.||We would like to thank the staff for making our stay enjoyable.|Thank you. This was a stop off on our way to Iceland, via Manchester Airport. The room we had (for two adults and a 15-year old) was roomy, comfortable and to the side of the lake. The meals we had on the evening in the bar were delicious and the staff very friendly too. I left my car parked for the three days that we were away in the lovely grounds of the Hotel knowing that it was in a safe environment. Included in the price was the cost of a taxi to and from the airport (Passenger Cars were excellent, especially on our return from the airport). My wife and I have both agreed that should we use Manchester Airport again in the future then we would, without hesitation stop at the Mere Court Hotel. More...
