Overall Service very poor. 20 Lakeside was the worst place we have ever lived in. The owners should be ashamed of themselves, as well as the Agent's. It was not tranquil as depicted in the Blurb and we couldn't sit outside on the patio because of the noise from A40. We couldn't hang our washing out either by order of the Directors of the complex. Martin & Co didn't warn us about any of this and tried to blame everything on us - including damp/ mould problems which manifested themselves in the Autumn. Then to cap it off, the Deposit Protection Service ruled they could dock £265 off our deposit for cleaning the carpets when we had left the place spick and span, and under the impression they only had to be cleaned if stained - which they weren't, thanks to an over -zealous Inventory Clerk who took photos but didn't date them. The staff (except for Steve Lake, who was lovely) were incredibly rude and harassed us and accused us of lying when it was them who were not telling the truth. Avoid the Lettings Section at all costs, especially as none of the owners on their books accept Local Housing Allowance, as they claimed in 2015. Award winning property experts indeed! They should get the "Wooden Spoon award" or equivalent for their shambolic service. We shall be taking our case further, having lost £11,000 (a year's rent) which we were forced to pay upfront before starting the tenancy and being dissatisfied with their response to our complaints. The demand for the years rent was also accompanied by uncalled for harassment from one now ex member of staff. More...
