Marla was fabulous on our pet portrait shoot. She completely understood how to behave around my dog and it was like she wasn’t there for him! I have now got some fabulous, natural and high quality prints that show off my dog for just being him. Thank you Marla x More...

Q&As

It’s holiday/half term time! The kids are now off school, and whether you are going away or having water fights in your back garden you may want to take a few snaps to remember it all! Here’s a few tips.

1. Don't pose. Every single time I have a session, my favourite photos are the natural, non-posed pictures. Capture everyone’s personality, not the pinterest-inspired “perfect” photo, because it’s their spirit that you’ll want to remember.

2. Take more than one photo. The beauty of digital photography is that you can take several similar photos and select the one you like best to keep. Burst mode is great for action shots too. Just remember to delete the extra ones, they do eat up the memory!

3. Take photos of your everyday. Baking cookies. Playing games. Chasing each other. All of the things that make your family unique are the most important things to look back on, not the fact that you visited a famous landmark and took a selfie there.

4. Shoot from their eye level. My eldest is now about 6 feet tall but while they are still shorter than you, get down to your child’s eye level to take their photo.

5. Hand the camera to somebody else and get in a few photos. Don’t be the ghost. I’m very guilty of this one myself but get in some photos too, whether you use a tripod, a dreaded selfie-stick or get someone else to take the photo. It’s important.

At the inquiry stage before your session, I will ask you a few get-to-know-you questions, or if we can arrange it, meet for a coffee. This helps me to get to know a bit about you, to bring out your personality in your photos. My aim is to produce honest, unorchestrated moments. This is your shoot, it is important to me to make it just as you want it. We will also discuss what you plan to do with your photos - where you want to display them etc. The formality and colours in your home can impact how we photograph your family.

I absolutely love taking photos. I love the interaction with my clients , and the genuine bonds I form with them. My greatest joy is being able to give you heirloom quality products that you can hold onto and treasure for many years to come. I am a lifestyle photographer. I combine traditional portraiture with a documentary style to create images that tell your story.
That little toddle that all too quickly becomes a run, those chubby cheeked dimples , or that expression of complete innocence — I believe every phase of life is worth celebrating — from newborns through to seniors . I love to capture real moments between you and your loved ones . I will capture a variety of loosely posed and completely candid moments to ensure the moments and relationships that matter to you can be remembered for a lifetime.
I want my images to tug at your heart , to bring tears to your eyes and to show you how beautiful and wonderful your family is. I want to create a timeless image that captures the moment for eternity.

Initially, entering into business didn’t cross my mind. I spent many years documenting my own children as well as friends. For me, commercializing it didn’t really interest me. I had a successful career in the oil and gas industry. It stayed that way for a long time until I found myself staying at home with 3 young children, and several of my friends encouraged me to start my own photography business. So I took a leap of faith. Working as a photographer has provided the flexibility I needed to be there when my children needed me to be.

Most people never print their digital files. USB's sit in a drawer, collecting dust, unnoticed and forgotten. I offer a full service experience, from pre-planning through to hand delivering your selected heirloom photography products. A lot of time, effort and love goes into creating your family images. I use top professional printing labs that guarantee the colours will be correct, and the products - flawless.
