Overcharged!! Having read the positive reviews of Luxury Lawns we opted to use them for an extension to our existing artificial grass installation. The quoted work involved not only removal of the existing grass but also full groundwork to a depth of 75mm with aggregate as a quick inspection revealed the existing grass lacked a proper base. The install team arrived and work proceeded but on closer inspection the existing grass did indeed have an aggregate base after all. As a result only 1/3 of the area required groundwork - a stroke of fortune, or so I thought. The team completely the install in under 2 days rather than the 3 days quoted and all seemed well. Where the problems started are with the final invoice. Most people would quite reasonably assume the significant reduction in groundwork required, shorter job duration (2 days vs 3 quoted) and reduction in materials used (the installers told me they had to return several tonnes of unused aggregate to the yard) would lead to a reduced price. On receipt of the final invoice I queried this to be told in no uncertain terms they wanted the full amount. While I didn't expect the full cost saving to be realized in the price I had expected at least an adjustment - how could something take 1/3 less time and for 2/3 less volume of groundwork and that not be cheaper, and surely as a respectable firm who values their customers Luxury Lawns would do the right thing? Not a chance. To make matters worse the trucks used broke a drain cover on an access road, no one mentioned it and I now have to appease neighbours and pay for that on top. I'll never have a chance to review the product, but I can relate, factually, the outcome. They were the only company, of several artificial grass layers, who reached the installation date: all the others either missed their appointment times and dates, or boldly promised, having actually managed to arrive, what they subsequently couldn't deliver: a 'phone call back, with a quote; given that, one star might be thought to be deserved: no. After about, about, a month, the agreed installation date arrived. The arrangements all being made; over £3,000's deposit payed, for two lawns, making over £7,000's of business; men allocated, and diverted from other jobs; the lorries loaded; materials chosen; miles driven to the address; we, the buyers, had risen early; all was in place. Had the company's Estimator, who'd had difficulty parking his OWN car before his own surveying visit forewarned the team that there was a small Visitors' Car Park at the top, a small driveway, and nothing else, except a narrow, one-way road for all traffic, arrangements might have been made weeks earlier, but no. All was fine, we were assured, just a little 'Awkward'. After weeks of expectations I had the pleasure of rising early, to meet two bewildered men, who hadn't been informed, holding a piece of paper with roughly drawn ink-shapes on, not knowing what time the others were arriving at the second garden, (we hadn't been told to expect others on the same day), with a lorry in the middle of the road, asking me where the car park they'd just driven past was; to where later I had to go to them, ( I'm afraid I intervened upon their pre-work smoking 'break'); to find an unparkably-large lorry, parked on the Corner, (two other lorries having found the car park), with a wrong telephone number painted on its side, 'Recommended by Which' magazine, (!), adjacent. Head Office's new, unadvertised, correct 'phone number was written down for me by a pleasant man, whose near naked body was covered in pictures. I passed a barking dog on my way to a telephone, with their laughter at THAT following my back. On the 'phone, (after about a month, it'll be remembered), I was challenged to say who said the parking arrangements should do: their own Surveyor was the answer: I should've thought that a Survey should've considered the possibility of doing the job before any quotation was given. I question not the product, nor the abilities, but the 'organisation'; the manner, & the surveying-competence. An entirely abysmal experience. What we are left with, now pictured below, is what we'd previously paid hundreds of pounds to a lawn care company to maintain, which we'd naturally stopped using, in anticipation of this 'service'. Further occurrence: as of 15th. August, 2018, it hasn't been possible to return the £3,000 + deposit, or speak to the person concerned for the following reasons: : not in the Office; 2: ' ..in a meeting'. 3: a woman in the office being ill. None of the above reasons prevented 'Luxury' Lawns making a very efficient complaint about this factual, not opinionated, Review, by email, to my neighbour within about 24 hours. 17/8/'18: something in the region of a week already having passed, they are now withholding the £3,000+,Deposit, until the lawns which they brought to our houses have been reallocated: i.e., re-sold. This,they say, should take about 7-10-days: this means a total of about, about, two weeks, or possibly more, to return thousands of pounds, because of an inadequate site survey, at the company's convenience, not the payers', in order to make it as personally convenient for themselves as possible. Leigh has arbitrarily kept £500.00 from the delayed returned deposit for 'Costs'. These 'Costs' were voluntarily incurred after their survey allowed them to think, wrongly, it was possible to profit from a job their own workmen told them was impossible. An account of muddled-pride & grasping-posturing, leaving us to pass the whole sorry story of a 'business'-manner as artificial as the Product to the Financial Services Authority: woeful in extremis. I highly recommend Luxury Lawns . We decided to have Astroturf fitted after getting our new puppy. From the initial consultation appointment to the end result we were thoroughly impressed with the service we received from Luxury Lawns . We were given all the options very clearly and the pricing details. So anyone wondering whether to go artificial grass, deliberating on a company to go for, great news! stop here! you're welcome! feel free to read on if you have a bit of time.. [pictures in the comments] very competitive price, booked in quickly (8 week wait, but quality is worth waiting for). so was quoted 5days to undertake garden transformation. before: a new build garden which suffered poor drainage, daft patio layout and 2 dogs who would dig, toilet and just be dogs. I was miserable with having to faff with the mower, the swamp that would appear after the rain and the tufts of grass creating a "ninja warrior" style work out to angle over the protruding tufts of grass and dust and cracks in the soil. during: nick and nick (albeit contractors) did as good of a job if not better than if they were working on their own homes. clean, tidy, started promptly. they kept me informed throughout the day of their activities (I'm very nosy) only minimal tea required and very polite to neighbours, accommodating to other road users when deliveries were needed. despite being given a 5 day quote (allowing for the changing weather) got the whole thing done in 3.5 days! Well, to say these chaps worked hard was an understatement. moving all materials by hand (not enough space for a mini digger 💔) but not a single complaint or groan! After [the bit people want to know]: it. has. changed. my. life. cliché maybe? but absolutely spot on. I have a garden I can use! dogs can frolic and enjoy the space. I've had my mum round (she's a keen gardener and even she commented that the quality of the canine grass is the best she's seen and was pleasantly surprised) friends are no longer cramped on a postage sized patio. it's inviting and homely, I smile each time I look out of the patio doors instead of the soul crushing dread of thinking "oh god I need to cut the grass again!", "I'm sure I only cut that last weekend", "when will it rain, it looks like the entire thing has died!". now what makes luxury lawns different? they were clear with the communication, they were efficient at providing a quote (one firm took 12 weeks to get back to me). if you have questions, 12hrs and they're back to you. want tweaks? they keep you informed. if you've got this far, congratulations, and booking in with luxury lawns will be the best decision you make this year without fail. stop browsing and book.
